  • Morneau has looked awful the last week or so. His bat is really sluggish. What was he thinking swinging on the first pitch after Mauer had been walked on 4 pitches? That's just bad fundamental baseball. Get your head in the game, man.

He's been terrible all September. He should have no business being in the MVP race. Mauer can get hits when it doesn't matter. The last few days he has bounced in to double play after double play when the game is on the line. Ugh.

Baker and the bats better come through today.

  • And so ends the 2008 regular season--or does it?

The Tigers go into Chicago tomorrow to finish the season. Freddy Garcia takes the mound for Detroit. It'd be nice to not have to go into Chicago but I'm not optimistic. The Tigers are a horrible team. Wednesday should be interesting.
    So this life is sacrifice...

We play Chicago tomorrow if they win, not Wednesday. I pray that Detroit wins because I do not want Blackburn starting on the road tomorrow. :(

If Detroit does win, Liriano can go on Thursday for Game 1 in Tampa.

Cliff Lee didn't do you guys any favors with his "stiff neck."

While some fans might like this kind of excitement, I'm not sure I could handle it. Here's hoping Detroit goes up 10-0 in the top of the first! :D

  • This is a fitting end to what's been an erratic and aggreviating regular season for the Twins. They haven't been great or terrible and have someone managed to survive through the whole year. Just think of all those games the Twins blew in August they should have won. Had they one even won of those we wouldn't be in this position.

  • If the White Sox win today, they tie the twins for the central. Why does that force a one game playoff? I thought the division winner tiebreaker was head to head record. Is that only the criteria when both are in the playoffs?
Sox Yankees tied and the Yankees won the division due to head to head so the sox got the wildcard.

This is a quote from wikipedia...
"During the 2005 season, ....Both teams finished the year with identical 95-67 records; however, the Yankees won the division due to beating the Red Sox in head-to-head games (10-9). Both were eliminated in separate ALDS series."
All that's sacred, comes from youth....dedications, naive and true.

Who knows?..... Freddy Garcia may come out and toss a no-hitter......but I'm more afraid the Tigers are getting madder and madder about having to play this game. I wouldn't be surprised if they lay down.

Yeah honestly. What motivation do they have to perform? All the Sox players were talking yesterday like Detroit would be "mad" that they have to play and come out swinging. I doubt it. They'd rather be golfing right now.

This will be our World Series. The most excitement we'll have this season, because whom ever wins stands no chance in the playoffs.

    Pretty much! :)

We were expected to contend for the basement of the division, so we're thrilled to be here. On the other hand...we threw away so many games during the year (as did the Sox) that we should have clinched this thing already.

Yeah, this whole statement can really be applied to both teams. Especially all the blown games in the final two months, even the final two weeks.

    We'll see you tomorrow night!

  • Going to the game tonight. They want all of the fans to wear black to have a "blackout". I guess it's to mourn the death of the Twins 2008 Season.

    GO SOX!

Oh nooooo!!! Not the blackout!!!!! I think it's in honor of the game's winning pitcher...Nick BLACKburn.

Worked so well for Georgia on Saturday....OH SNAP!

  • And the battle for AL central mediocrity begins!

What I don't get is why this game is being played in Chicago. Twins won the season series 10-8 so shouldn't we be playing in the Dome? Why a coin flip? This isn't football.

The Twins hit Danks well so I'm expecting a high-scoring affair.

How terrible are the Tigers? They were supposed to win 100 games this year and finish in last place! Thanks for nothing losers!
