It doesn't look pretty this year. At least Punto (aka McSuckin) didn't make the opening day lineup. I'm intrigued by what Gomez and Young will bring to the lineup and how they'll mesh with Mauer, Morneau, and Cuddyer.

The pitching staff scares me.

Hey, at least we have a new stadium next to a garbage burner opening in two seasons! :)

I think it's still up in the air at this point. They may be waiting for one more outing in spring training, but from what I read, the last one went pretty well so they think he might be the 4th starter.

I don't have much faith in the Twins this year, maybe they will surprise me but I doubt it. I'm just hoping they finish ahead of the Royals! With Gopher hockey still going on and the Wild making the playoffs I don't think I'll be paying too much attention to the Twins for awhile.

    Oops. :(

Good thing I didn't have time to watch the whole thing tonight. I'm sure this won't be the only game like this during the season.

Are they really not putting a roof on that thing?

Nope. Are there roofs on the other stadiums in the AL Central?

Well I think you know the answer to that one. And yes there is. It's called the Metrodome. Ever heard of it? What's your point anyway?

I meant other than the Twins' CURRENT stadium which was not part of the discussion.

My point is that it's just as cold in the early/late weeks of the season in Minneapolis as it is in Chicago, Detroit, and Cleveland for the most part. Baseball is meant to be watched outside. Even if there was a retractable roof, it doesn't really seem like you're sitting outside when in a stadium like that (Milwaukee, Arizona, etc).

Ahh just like last year...right now a 12-3 lead on the White Sox.

  • Really bad managing tonight from Gardy! Why in the hell was Matty Guerrier out there to pitch the 8th with the bullpen not even warmed up? Neshek has been terrible this year and should've been out of there 3 batters earlier (I heard he switched to a vegan diet—might be time to switch back to substiantial food there Patty). Punto getting the final AB? Everett in the lineup with a bum shoulder? Just a plethora of awful decisions from Ronny (who I still love most of the time but when he f*cks up he really f*cks up).

Detroit still blows. Whoop-de-sh*t you won your first home game! Still the worst record in MLB. Both teams played bad and neither deserved to win.

I don't have high expectations. Twins will win 70-75 this year and finish 3rd or 4th (it's only going to take 85 wins to nab the central). Mauer is basically a weak singles hitter with almost annoying amounts of patience (screw all the walks Joe! Turn on some of those inside pitches for doubles!)

    2010 will be good though!
    So this life is sacrifice...
6/30/98 Minneapolis, 10/8/00 East Troy (Brrrr!), 6/16/03 St. Paul, 6/27/06 St. Paul
  • That's funny about Neshek going Vegan. Prince Fielder also went Vegan, and is homerless, batting .222.

That's fine, everyone here is from Boston or NY.

    All that matters is:

    Sux- 66-52
    Twins- 66-53

    Oh yeah NYY = 64-56
