So how exactly is Locke going to move the island?

And I'm guessing he's successful because that's why Jack couldn't find it in the finale last season.

So are they planning out a dynamic that Jack and Locke become the new Ben and Widmore. Jack searching for the island while Locke is the protector of it?

My guess is that Locke isn't going to move the island but rather, in essence, change the bearing by which someone can travel back and forth to the island. How this will occur, I have no damn idea but I'm intrigued by the prospects and directions it can go.

Not a bad thought, since it already seems as though Locke has taken over Ben's position on the island.

    "What happened to them?"
    "He did."

    Great writing!!

Maybe the island does get moved....somewhere cold....could explain why Ben was wearing that parka when he jumped forward.

Lots of good lines last night.

I loved Ben's line to Locke that "Destiny is a fickle Bitch."

I don't think that Michael can't die, but he just can't die before he does what the island needs him to do... once that happens, he dies. I think the same is true with Locke and the way Ben mentioned that he shouldn't have shot him since he knew it Locke wouldn't die.

Great episode again and next week looks even better.
I agree with this, and I think it ties in with what Rose pointed out last week, that the Island let Jack get sick as well. It looks to me that Jack and Ben have served their purpose to the Island (and it might be detrimental for them to stay on the Island, see Jack's status as one of the Oceanic 6 and Ben's tromping after Widmore). Locke and Michael are not finished with the Island, thus they are immune to harm (Ben shooting Locke/Michael jamming Keamy's gun)

So is the island in the future? Because they found the doc's body before he died? But I thought it was in the past because of how long Farraday's rocket took to land. Or do we just have no idea what time it is on the island relative to the "real" world of Lost.

I think your last thought might be the most accurate... I kinda think it might be as if the island has an elliptical orbit in relation to the real world, sometimes being in the past, sometimes in the future and at times even in the present. Kinda the reason Faraday stated that time on the island was relative...

Maybe they have to mess with the electromagnet again to get the island back where it was in its cloaking (moving in space or time or both?). People who get off before the 'reactivation' leave, people who don't are stuck on the island.

The electromagnet is the only thing on the island I can think of that is powerful enough to 'move' the island.

so we know somehow lock was put on the plane right. or at least guided towards that walk guide to find himself.

Soooooo does this confirm that Christian Sheperd did fake his death to get Jack on the plane somehow. And why Claire is not dead and explains why she can see him etc etc???

Maybe she is dead. I got the impression that was up in the air. And, yes, it was Locke's destiny to be on that plane.

And, yes he was totally pushed into it...needless to say it was his destiny...because he *DID* end up there.

As it was Clarie's....remember the string of people trying to insure that she got on that flight.

Yup! I totally agree. To be honest, I've always thought it was ALL of their destinies to be on that plane.

That's what I took from the episode. It was pretty much a debate over whether Locke was a man of science or a man of faith. He thought it was luck that got him to the island (i.e. the man of faith they've been portraying him as since the beginning) but this episode pretty clearly shows that it was all planned (i.e. man of science like his teacher told him). Maybe this is a turning point for his character, with the movement of the island bringing out the man of science in Locke with much less blind faith. Afterall, it wasn't Locke that found the cabin, which obviously requires a lot of faith.

But then it gets into lots of philosophical debates Lost fans love so much.
