i don't think sawyer's going to die. i think he just chose not to leave....as kate said last night.

good episode. wtf is up with people coming back from the dead? one of my wise lost friends mentioned time travel last week with ben landing in the desert and then at the hotel when he didn't know where he was. maybe christian shepard is time traveling from the past? i dunno. then that guy in the preview saying he's been dead for 12 years. at least we got one answer - why jack started popping pills.

So are we to infer from Jack's "you're not even related to him" comment to Kate while Aaron watches clutching his stuffed Shamu that Jack finds out about Claire being his sis before leaving the island?

That's how I saw it. I'm guessing that before Jack leaves the island, he sees Christian again and this time he's with Claire and then they (Jack and Claire) finally found out the truth.

it seemed that way....which makes it even more confusing that he wanted nothing to do with him when they first left the island.

i thought when christian shepard showed up and claire said 'dad' that sawyer was somehow going to see him and make the connection since he's met jack's dad. but is claire gone for good now?

I don't think she is gone for good. I mean that would be a pretty lame way to disappear from the show. I do think that something must have happened to have her abandon Aaron and I think we'll see what it was before the end of the season.

Agreed, Sawyer is not going to die, he's going to choose to stay on the island. Hell he'll finally be the "Jack" of the island once Jack is gone.

As for time travel, that's the first thing that I thought when Ben appeared in the desert. And then when he asked what year it was when he got to the hotel just reaffirmed it. Plus, thought it was abit peculiar that Ben had a nice heavy winter jacket on after landing in the desert, made me think that the polar bears on the island, and their fossils found in desert by Charlotte may all be connected. Kinda like a portal from the island, but instead of going straight from the island to the desert, you stop in the artic or something along the way :) ... or maybe in order to time travel, something must take your place (space) and you are taking theirs.. if that makes any sense.

I would think she might be on the island still, and could be a reason why Jack wants to go back to the island.... to reunite Claire with the baby she is supposed to raise.

So did this flash forward take place before or after last year's season finale? I totally thought it took place before last year's finale being that we could see how Jack started taking pills and it was right after Kate's trial.

But then I saw this screencap -

    http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg162/getlostpodcast/4x10/newspaper.jpg

which puts the date of the flash forward to 8/30/07.

Though, Jack must be an A Rod hater because in that game, because A Rod went hitless.

The newspaper clipping from the finale last year with the clipping for the funeral Jack went to was dated 4/7/07 - though TPTB have never said that it was the real date or just a prop used to film the finale last year.

I figured that the flash forward was between Kate in court and the first visit to Hurley (when he first sees Charlie) and the season finale when Jack's out of control. I think there may just be a continunity problem there with the dates.

That's what I thought too - that this happened before Jack went loony. And I figured they could have totally used the Boston Massacre 2 August 18-21, 2006 as the sweep - when the Yankees swept a 5 game series at Fenway to knock Boston out of the playoffs. That's why I'm confused now that they used the game story from the August 07 sweep.

If they would have used the 2006 story, Aaron would be about a year and 9 months old and Jack would have about 7 months to wind up being addicted to pills. I wonder if it was a mistake or intentional. TPTB make such few mistakes on the show though.

The portal may be like the airlines, if you book early enough, you get a non-stop, if you travel last minute, you have a layover in Antarctice en route to Iraq. Perhaps Benry was booked on the Island to Antarctica to Iraq trip, but was on a waiting list for the non stop to the middle east hoping for a seat to open up.

I think they are setting up to have 2 seasons worth of filler and further explanation of some dangling storylines in Season 5 & 6. Maybe.

This might help a little http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Timeline:Post-Island.

I doubt the filler.... this week was a vehicle to move the story along. You can't have bang bang answers answers answers every week.

During the show last night, I thought that last night's time line was after Season I's finale. I guess because Kate said something along the lines of "I'm glad you changed your mind about seeing Aaron." Also, Jack told Kate "I saved you." I figured that was because he lied on the witness stand during her trial. Of course, that could have been a reference to them leaving the island - something we haven't seen yet. In Season I finale I would have presumed that Kate's trial was over or else she would have been in jail pending trial. Didn't she stay in jail until she was acquitted? And because she wasn't in jail last night I again presume that this is all post-trial. Somebody tell me how far off I am with that.

But thinking about it today, there are signs that last night's interaction between Jack & Kate occurred before Season I finale and the trial because it looks like Jack started with the drugs/drinking after seeing his dad and Hurley. But while watching the show last night I thought he had recovered at some point since the Season I finale/trial, but due to seeing his dad and Hurley again he lapsed.

But seriously, I also found it interesting Rose raising the question about Jack needing surgery when it heals people. I think this will come into play later as part of the reason Jack needs to go back because whatever it his he needs to do on the island won't be completed when he leaves.
