So Soriano just nailed ANOTHER guy going home from left. Damn that guy has one of the most accurate arms in the field!!!
It's crazy, because whenever they show him throwing he looks like he has nothing on it, he's got that semi side armed approach, and BAM he's got the guy gunned out with a perfect strike (usually non-hop) to the catcher.0 -
Two errors in the bottom of the 9th and 3 runs scored. Unreal!0

EFFFFFFF YOUUUUUU CEDENO~!

Done? Efff that. We're still in first. As long as the bewers keep losing, we're good.
At least this slump is happening now and not and in October. We showed last night that our bats are slowly alive and if it hadn't been for that error we'd have won today.
No one ever said it was going to be easy. But I think the Cubs will come around next series and start playing 2008 Cubs baseball again.16

Cubs need to finish this fucking thing now. Both teams are playing piss poor baseball.0 -
Fucking pathetic effort tonight. Why throw to Pujlos there? Bunting into a double play, what the fuck is that? According to baseball perspectives or some shit like that they have 99.1% chance to make the playoffs. I still like the .9%. These bastards don't understand they can't wait for others to lose, they need to win to get in. Honestly when you play .111 ball over your last 9, you don't deserve to go to the playoffs.Alpine Valley 6/26/98, Alpine Valley 10/8/00, Champaign 4/23/03, Chicago 6/18/03, Alpine Valley 6/21/03, Grand Rapids 10/3/04

Terrible, just terrible. Fucking embarrassing. But I'd rather have them swoon now, have Lou put his foot up someones ass and correct this shit before October. Than go thru that shit we went thru against Arizona again.
The good thing is, other playoff contenders look pretty bad right now too. Arizona has fallen to 2.5 back of LA (I'd really prefer to not face Webb Haren and the Unit inthe playoffs), Milwaukee has only gained like 1 game in 2 weeks of us sucking, and the Phillies are now only 3 back of Milwaukee in the wildcard race.0 -

I was hoping that I would be present when they clinch. With the magic # at 14 the Cubs need to streak and the Brew crew need to keep losing for this to happen at Wrigley.
I will be in St. Louis for Thursday night game, at wrigley next Wed against the Brewers and Saturday against the Cards. Best hope is for Saturday but the way they are playing I have to hope for a clinch at anytime. Cant be too greedy.

Huge win last night. Glad we could finally win a series. Still though, Wood is making me very nervous when he comes in. Hopefully they can get this Houston series in. Selig needs to step up and make the decision himself. Though that might be bad for us cause he'd try to help the Brewers!
Houston is just shooting down every possible idea playing at neutral sites. Now there is talk that Sunday is getting cancelled too and Monday is a double header.0 -

Yeah 3 games in a row with Wood not looking good. Really surprised they pitched to PooHoles, but good for Kerry he got the job done.
5.5 right?!0 -
Cause we really want to play 3 games in 2 days after the season ends, right before the playoffs. That sucks. Hopefully by then the Cubs have clinched (well well before then) and Houston is out of it so none of the games would be needed at all.
The Houston Astros chose to remain in Texas on Friday night to wait out the wrath of Hurricane Ike, which was projected to make landfall this morning -- making moot the selection of a backup neutral site for the Cubs and Astros to try to play their scheduled three-game series.
If the Houston area suffers enough damage to make a backup site necessary, it likely would be impossible for the Astros to travel from the area in the immediate aftermath of the storm. That probably would push all three games into the two-day window between the Sept. 28 season finales and the start of the postseason.0 -
Now this.
Miller Park could host Cubs-Astros set
If plans goes through, details would be announced Saturday
PHILADELPHIA -- "Suddenly it seems that a Cubs-Astros series under the dome at Miller Park is not so far-fetched.
Major League Baseball was considering moving the key series between National League Central contenders to Milwaukee on Sunday and Monday, according to two baseball sources. If the plan goes through, details, including game times and ticket procedures, would be announced Saturday.
Brewers spokesman Tyler Barnes confirmed that the team is on stand-by, and is waiting for direction from MLB.
The series was supposed to be played in Houston, but the impending arrival of Hurricane Ike prompted the Astros and MLB to decide Thursday to postpone games Friday and Saturday. Officials were scrambling to determine alternate sites.
"That is way premature," club owner Drayton McLane said Friday night. "The Commissioner has agreed to see how Houston fares after the storm hits. That would be midday [Saturday]. No decision will be made until then."
Should Minute Maid Park weather the storm without major damage, McLane is confident the Astros and Cubs will play Sunday. They could host a doubleheader that day with a single game played on Monday, a mutual off-day for the Astros and Cubs.
"If the storm hits Houston, if it has not been severe and we still have power at Minute Maid Park and no flooding, the last key issue is we need the Cubs to be able to fly into Intercontinental [Airport] so we can play Sunday," McLane said. "That is the hope. The Commissioner makes the final decision. We'll look for a decision to come down midday Saturday."
Milwaukee was initially ruled out, partly because of an event scheduled on the field over the weekend and partly because the series could amount to extra home games for the Cubs, who play 90 miles down Interstate 94 at Wrigley Field.
"Milwaukee's kind of a home game for them, isn't it?" Astros infielder Mark Loretta said Thursday.
Maybe so, but at some point the games need to be played. The Cubs lead the NL Central with an 88-58 record, followed by the Brewers 5 1/2 games back and the Astros 8 1/2 games back. The Brewers lead the NL Wild Card, followed by the Astros and Phillies three games back.
The Astros have become surprise threats to the Brewers' hold of the Wild Card. Houston has won 14 of its last 15 games.
Last April, Miller Park played host to an Angels-Indians series when snowstorms in Cleveland postponed the start of the baseball season there. More than 53,000 fans paid $10 per ticket to see the return of American League Baseball to Milwaukee.
The Brewers faced some weather of their own on Friday in Philadelphia, and Saturday's afternoon game could also be in jeopardy because of more rain. The Brewers and Phillies are already scheduled to play a doubleheader on Sunday, and Monday is an off-day for both teams."
I'd be surprised if it does happen but obviously I would love it. Guess we will have to wait and see. Sad thing is this should have been figured out a long time ago if Astros owner wasn't such a little bitch.Alpine Valley 6/26/98, Alpine Valley 10/8/00, Champaign 4/23/03, Chicago 6/18/03, Alpine Valley 6/21/03, Grand Rapids 10/3/04

Hahaha...that would fuck over the astros, but I'd be for it.
I mean I read that Minute Maid is fine, but the rest of the city looks pretty messy. I can't imagine they'd have it completely cleaned up by tomorrow or Monday.16

I can't believe you're complaining this much about it. People in Houston are losing their homes, and some even their lives, and you're calling their owner a little bitch? They have every right not to give up their scheduled home games, especially since they're making a little push here and are only 3 back in the wild card. There was 6 or 7 games PPD yesterday because of the weather and it looks like there will be a few more today, so the Cubs aren't the only team dealing with this. And if they have to make up these games at the end of the season, yeah it sucks, but it won't be the first time it has happened and you can't expect another team to accommodate your team's "needs". Be thankful you're team has a comfortable lead in the division and that you're probably sitting comfortably in your own home safe and sound. He floated back down 'cause he wanted to share, his key to the locks on the chains he saw everywhere.0
