That was great!!! I will be there Sunday also. Hopefully Big Z will have one of those special starts since he is due. Too bad it will still be AUG on Sunday and this is not his month.

  • This team just doesn't quit. Down 4-1 in the 8th and they come back to win, again.

That grandslam was a fucking BOMB! I jumped 10 feet off the couch right when it hit the bat.

Interesting to see the former A's rotation guys going at it. I think Zambrano has Moyer. Forget who is matched up with Lilly.

I caught the last few innings of the game last night, and WGN said that homer was 389 feet. That's gotta be wrong, right? I mean, that's a flyball to the warning track, not 10 rows up. Although a lot of flyballs turn into homers in that stadium... ;)

WOW, Dick Stockton has got to be the worst commentator in sports. Why are we stuck with this moron doing our games on NATIONAL TV? Game is only in the 6th inning and he already has said Zambrano will be starting for the Phillies tomorrow, Really? That's interesting when did he get traded? He also said DeRosa was heading to 3rd when Fukudome was going to third on a single (I believe those were the two players, could be worng, but I know he said the wrong players name). Then the best one was with two strikes on a Phillies batter Lilly hits the batter and Stockton shouts "Strike 3" pauses and then says "no he hit him". What a joke. Get this guy in the retirement home where he belongs and not in the booth.

I still don't know why they didn't send Theriot (or was it DeRosa...either way). I know they try to hold the guy at 3rd with 0 outs, but the center fielder pretty much walked up to the ball and it wouldn't have been close.
Sure enough, 1st and 3rd 0 out and we get nothing!

Tough game today. I'm glad Lou rested Z because his arm has looked a bit tired of late. We're going to need a fresh Z coming down the stretch!

Heard Zambrano has dead/tired arm, and they are putting Harden off until the Cards series. Hopefully they get well before the playoffs!

If the Cubs are in the WS they will be playing 25th, 26th, 27th. All subject to change of course.

We need our bats to get us there and they were no where to be found this weekend. What a bummer driving to the game on Sunday hearing the Big Z was not pitching. Lets get them tonight Z!!!

    Agreed!

    New Rule:

The Cubs are not allowed to acquire ANYONE who's ever played for the White Sox ever again.

Also, they need to rest old man Edmounds a bit. He's been ice cold of late and I can't even think of how many times he's hit into a double play in the last week+.

I think Reed Johnson needs to be playing a whole lot more.

If we make the playoffs he needs to be left OFF the playoff roster.

Guzman looked like he had some good stuff last night. A little bitt out of control but his ball was moving.

Teams that are out of it can be the most dangerous.

How bout Double play Lee? I am ready to see Micah Houfpour (sp?) at first and rest the big man a bit.

Agree with Howry. He is looking like Wuertz. Bring him in when we are down by 4-6 runs only.

exactly why the weekend series with the Reds worries me.

Yeah! The Reds knocked us out in 2004. A team with nothing to lose can take more risks.

I am going to St. Louis for the first time next week. It should be interesting since they are now pretty much out of it but would love to be a thorn in our side.

Its gotten so predictable that even my wife can call it when he'll hit into another fucking double play. Just like last night. As I just shake my head in shame, and slam another beer.

Yep, wasn't he sitting 2-0 after he walked two guys straight or something, and swung after a pitch low and in?

C'mon DLee! Even a little leaguer knows to sit on that pitch! Between Lee and Edmounds, if there is a guy on first with less than two outs...you know what's coming!

Yeah, and you know ol' Dustbag would want nothing more than to play spoiler against the Cubs!

Dude... D Lee lasered that ball... he can't direct where it goes after he hits it. If it were a few feet either side of the 3rd basemen it would have been a double. He was just unlucky on that play.

That being said, I think switching Ramirez to the 3rd spot makes sense. DLee probably won't ever regain his 2005 form. I think he is more of a .290/20 HR guy that would look nice in the clean up spot.

We got VERY lucky this year that Derosa, Soto, and Theriot stepped up.
Without those guys over-performing this would be an average team.
