Def have something (preferably involving alcohol) planned for after. But don't ask if she's down until you're both comfortable...and give her the option of choosing something to do before you spring the "plan". I dunno. Sounds good, but who am I to say?

Man...we could write a book on your dating adventures from your threads.

Haha.. can't you tell I hate dating? lol. Relationships for me are usually people I've already known through school or work.. meeting complete strangers seems to be a task for me.
  • I'm going on a second date tomorrow with a girl I really admire so far..

The plan is going out for dinner.

Is that plenty for a second date or should I have something planned after? Or should I have the dinner conversation decide that???

I don't want to under do it or over do it with this one..
blowoff dinner and take her straight to the bar....

make her pound about 7-10 jaegerbombs......

and then see what she is in the mood for.....hehehehehe
    Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....

Either an Italian or American restaurant.. like Leona's, Goose Island, maybe Angelina's Ristorante.. Nothing too fancy, but not fast food.

I hear ya man...I'm the same. I SUCK at 'picking girls up'...For me, it might be cause I hate small talk, and trying to find common ground with a stranger...plus, I am a total chickenshit on approach, and I think the lack of confidence is evident (we all know the 'I like a man with confidence' cliche is almost as big as the "who'll treat me like a princess" one). Makes it a bitch to meat women. I usually do well when introduced, so it's frustrating.

And ya....second dates were made for alcohol, but don't overdo it...OR let her overdo it!

I would just take things as they come. Have dinner with her and like someone else said, see where the conversation goes. Come up with a conclusion together and feel her out and see what she's interested in. And just be at ease and cool. Things will fall into place just fine.

You're thinking things out too much. Be comfortable :)

True. Don't stress or be nervous too much.
She might think you're just want to hit the sack. ;)
My only advice is just have fun and have a good time.

Have a plan, my friend. And, also have a back-up plan.

That's solid advise right there. ;)

'I like a man with confidence'

i find it kind of sweet if a guy is not confident when talking to me at first, but later on ( say like after 3/4 dates ) of course he must get his act together
"who'll treat me like a princess"

not really just someone who will treat me like another human being and not presume to have knowledge of who i am.

you know what your problem is? you worry to much, and probably give away hidden signals that you worry and in turn that puts women off.

so what she is a stranger? she will be easy to break up than a friend or work mate.chill out man, do you ever see me make threads about stressing over dates? no...because i don't care, well i do and i don't.

thank god you're not taking her to fast food place! :) yes, do go to resturant with her, and then just walk around town with her?! or go to a cheap gig?! ( cause that's something i would want :D) walk by the river?!

and anyway why should a guy come up with something? why? let her do some work!
  • Awww... well first off, good luck on the date and i hope it goes well :)

Secondly can you try and find somewhere that doesn't involve driving so you could have a drink too?

Dinner's great... it would be good to have a reservation for say 8 or something and meet her at 7, go for a drink first to relax and then in for the meal... throughout the meal you can suss out how late she can stay out or how much she can drink... it would obviously be great to just go for a couple of drinks afterwards... can ya think of any nice cosy bars you could bring her to?

Hey, I mean this in the nicest possible way but if she comes back to your place after the date, please don't sneak into your bathroom with your laptop and ask us if you think she would prefer you to be on top or undernieth...

that's the opposite for me, I've never been on a date with someone who wasn't a complete stranger.

    haha!
  • You should definately have something else lined up, even if it's just a walk after dinner or going for a drink somewhere else... you wanna spend as much time as possible with her to get chance to talk.
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
  • why do you have to have something "lined up"? wouldn't it be better to just wander out of the restaurant and see what happens?

Also, if you're in chicago, why are you driving? leave the car at home, it will be easier not to have to worry about it.

I half agree with ya... but it's good to have one or two ideas for IF it goes well. Its nice to wander out of the restaurant and then he says 'I know this cosy little bar down the road' or the two of you accidentally wander to a beauty spot :)
