Sorry, this thread is for dogs only, not polar bears.  You’ll have to start a polar bear thread. Other than that, Indiana is a beautiful polar bear.
    hahaha this cracked me up😂
    Me too!

Reminds me of some of the commentary on WeRateDogs :)
Definitely inspired by that.  It’s one of my favourite twitter accounts.  That and thoughts of dog.

    I call this one a Max-tion shot!

Here’s Zeus being a handsome boy amongst the fallen leaves.

How do you like that leash? I've always wanted to try a head collar, but didn't want to waste money if they don't really work. My male dog is a guaranteed yank if there are dogs around so I just walk him on a short leash. He walks great, stays on my side, with no tension on the leash... if we're alone. Lol He's a very strong puller at 80lbs, but I would consider myself pretty strong also so he can't really pull me and I have no problems giving him a nice little leash tug when he acts up (what trainers told us to do). My girlfriend on the other hand, she's not very strong... at all, and the dog knows it. Haha wondering this leash would help her.

I highly, highly recommend the Gentle Leader. Our last Golden was the world’s worst walker until we got the GL. It worked well for Piper, too.

  • What a great photo!!!...googled gentle leader...looks like a good training tool...when do you switch to a typical leash or do you always use it?
  • WobbieWobbie Posts: 30,174
I think with Gracie (the Golden) we always used it. Piper is now on a normal leash.

Gracie was a terrible walker....she would bite the leash, spring into the air, lie down and refuse to move, etc. Some kid at Petsmart put the gentle leader on her and, voilà, she was walking down the aisle. it was nothing short of a miracle! I am a big fan.

Generally, I’d say it works fine.  It depends on how excited Zeus gets.  He didn’t really have regular socialisation with other dogs outside of his yard prior to us taking him, so sometimes he gets very excited by other dogs, particularly larger breeds.  He has on at least two occasions completely slipped out of it.  We get him out everyday and I have done dog training classes with him, but a 7-years old, I highly doubt that he will ever change.  We just adapt.

Today is Eddie's birthday. He's two and not very happy with my daughter's idea of a birthday hat.

    No worries and thanks!

Eddie got a new Wubba for a gift and that seems to have made up for the stupid hat.
