my last post was tuesday....it is now saturday.

on thursday and yesterday, gracie ate nothing. she didn't even want treats. we called the vet thursday night and she suggested pasta. gracie had no interest. luckily, she was still drinking her water. we tried every treat in the cupboard and gracie had no interest in anything

we really thought yesterday was "the day." gracie had thrown up four times in the past two days...her poop was soup.....at one point, I said to Codie "get ready to go." but gracie did not seem to be suffering, so we wanted to buy one more day and have some friends come by last night to see her for one last time.....we called the vet, described what was going on and the vet said gracie would probably make it another day...well, once again my niece and nephew (aka "the kids") pulled gracie out of her funk....gracie was running around and playing with her toys. even then, we kind of figured gracie would perk up just to please her visitors and still thought today would for sure be "the day" (even tho her "recovery" last night was amazing).

we woke up today....I didn't want to get out of bed....and gave it one last shot before what we thought was the inevitable. I went to the store and bought some white rice. GRACIE ATE IT!!!!!! she ate again at dinner and has turned back into the "treat monster," wanting a treat at every turn. no vomitting today and her poop is way better. we know this won't last forever but, for now, it's a christmas miracle! a lot of credit goes to my niece, isabelle (below; picture from last night)

gracie is the toughest girl we know
She sure is one tough cookie and were praying this is her turning point!

    KEEP IT UP GRACIE!

Lately I'm a little apprehensive whenever I check this thread. Always afraid that there will be bad news about Gracie. :(

But what a fighter she is! She has a family that loves her and that makes her strong. Gracie, you wonderful pooch, I wish I could give you a tummy rub and a big ole kiss on the nose!

we're a little apprehensive each day.

here's the other dog healer. gracie chowed down on some fresh cooked rice this morning. we also discovered macaroni (from mac and cheese) makes a great pill pocket. we hope gracie doesn't catch on like she cathes on to everything else

I am so sorry you are going through this, although I know you would probably do it all over again if given the chance. I have come in here frequently of late and every time I write a post I can't go through with posting it. We lost our Harley, the one-time escape artist, a couple of months ago. It was quick, he hadn't been really sick, but he did have some health issues. I just found him on his side in my son's room. I miss him every day. And when I watch pugs on the internet, I miss him even more. My 10 y.o. is heartbroken. They were best buds. Harley slept in his bed. So I get that kid/dog connection thing so well. Whenever my son was sick or crying, Harley was right there, trying to figure out how to fix it. We are searching for another pug. I am sure we will find one. I am so glad that you have Gracie and that she has you. :)

This reminds me of Harley so much, and it makes me laugh and cry at the same time.

RIP Harley. I know from experience that it will get better in time.

the golden thing ^^^^^ is great. it sooooooo reminds us of gracie as a pup

we went to the vet today....we are going to do no more doxyrubicin (chemo) and we declined prednisone, because we think it makes gracie uncomfortable. the vet told us to keep feeding gracie whatever she likes and we will let whatever happens, happen. gracie went to the park today and is feeling pretty good for now

Rob, I'm glad Gracie had a nice day with you today.

Please, as always, give her a hug and a kiss on her beautiful snout just from me.

    Love that Golden girl... :)

    Love my crew. Really do.

Lovely photo! I had the pleasure of visiting Acadia this past summer and it instantly became one of my favorite places on earth. Star gazing atop Cadillac Mtn on a clear night was awe inspiring

Lots of love and belly rubs to Gracie and all the other hounds!

It's single life for me these days. Selling up the house I'm in and looking for a new one. Saddest bit is a may lose the capital city goofball if the Ex finds a house where she can have dogs :(

I'm looking to buy and she is looking to rent so fingers crossed she can't have pets!!
