OK....we don't encourage this, but Piper likes to look out thru the shutters. She looks like the guy at the gym who is always lifting weights but neglects his legs. :))

Ha ha ha ha ha. But seriously - I've had to stop showing the Piper pix to my daughter because all we hear is, "When are we getting a puppy? We need another puppy. Brian needs a sister." So thanks a lot, Rob.

Where's Piper's tail? :-S And she looks adorably familiar with that position; I think you're past the 'encourage behavior' stage with this one. O:-) BTW - i can't help but notice that your house is freakishly clean. You do actually live there, right? Or just the dog? :D

the breeders do that.....I think it's mean, but Piper comes from champion stock and there will probably be more show dogs in this litter....and "no tail" is the breed standard. don't ask me why.

"freakishly"? no. but we do like a clean house.

Piper has learned "sit" "down" "give me your paw" and "roll over." she's schmaaaaaaart!

I tried to think of another adjective but my brain wouldn't help me so i went with freakishly and figured you'd give me a pass - it wasn't meant as an insult. I looked around my apartment and felt inferior for a bit and then Chelsea licked my hand and I realized it was okay.

She is smart, that's a lot for her age. My pound puppy does 'sit', 'off', 'down', paw, other paw (i'm mean), lovies (kisses), stay, fetch, come and she knows what 'outside' means so if i say it, i'd better mean it!!! She was rolling around in the grass on her back with a tennis ball in her mouth yesterday and today, i didn't have my phone but it would have made a great gif.

    Did she ace the class?

what she did was get her butt pounced on by a bigger Golden and a Bernese Mtn Dog. She is veeeeeeery tired out today :D

Our coffee table is a mere 4 inches off the ground but, somehow, Piper wriggles her way under there. here she is, emerging (in a blur) :))

skunks should be eradicated from the earth

or at least wherever me and my dog are
  • NatashapearljamfanNatashapearljamfan Australia Posts: 3,777
Poor Piper that sounds traumatic no wonder Piper is exhausted. The bigger dogs are jealous they aren't as cute as her. :))

Has anything changed with the 'improvements' on the site that are causing problems posting pictures? I have been trying to post pictures for an hour and I keep getting that little square with a tree or something in it. I've posted pictures without problem before - any advice?? I got dog at play video waiting to be shared. Help!

I am in complete agreement with you. I am an animal lover, but I have been smelling fresh skunk for 4 days now. They had babies in our cellar one year (it's not a basement, the floor is the actual rocks of the Palisades and it hasn't been used much since dad died (he had an awesome work room, and I raid it occasionally) and then the washer/dryer died about 5 years ago. So, there is nothing to go down there for, except leaking pipes, blown fuses and eradicating breeding skunks. The hot water heater imploded last week, I couldn't fix it, but it created a little swimming hole. Ugh .PSE&G won't come till the water is gone so i have to go dig all the crap out of a natural drain. Yes, I am the handy person of the house. Anyway - my dogs get skunked at least once a year and it just permeates everything. Ground coffee absorbs the smell, eventually - i got skunked once - it sucked, no, it more than sucked. I hate them. When i go empty the crap and water in the cellar, there had better not be any skunks - i'm bringing sharp objects!!!!

Thank you. There's a piece of my heart that will always belong to Guinness, I tear up still when I see her muttly face. Chelsea is a great dog & i love her, but she can never have my whole heart. I know you miss Gracie, it's amazing how dogs can touch us so deeply.

Aside from the old tomato juice remedy, one thing we found that worked reasonably well when I was a kid and our boxer got skunked ( a couple of times) to help remove the smell was Scope mouthwash. We basically bathed him with that. Can still picture my brother pouring it over his head and as it ran down the side of his face he'd drink what came to his mouth.
    This weekend we rock Portland
