On Wednesday I thought I'd be writing an obituary for Brian on here. Oh man, what a hell of a week.

On Sunday night Brian didn't eat much. In the middle of the night he threw up, by Monday morning he couldn't walk. We took him to the vet, he had a super high fever. He didn't get better, he started to have serious seizures and they thought his organs were failing. On Tuesday my husband and I went to see him - me to say goodbye because the prognosis was so awful. And he looked terrible. Almost in a coma, unable to eat or walk. He was having a seizure while we were there. They couldn't figure out what it was - said maybe a specialist would know. But maybe not.

My husband called the doctor later and asked the doctor what he would do and the doctor basically said he'd let nature take its course. He said the seizures were so bad they most likely impacted his brain. So we prepared to euthanize Brian on Wednesday. Told the kids, we all cried. He's only three years old and nobody could figure out what was wrong.

Wednesday morning my husband called the doctor to make plans to come in and the doctor said they'd tried a "Hail Mary" drug that night and Brian was up and walking and had just finished breakfast. John went to see him and he was woozy, but knew his name and commands like sit and shake - it really was some kind of miracle.

He's still had some seizures, but they're milder and he came home last night. He's walking and running around and remembers everything (like wants to chase the cats and play with tennis balls). They say there's some kind of "fever of unknown origin" that happens sometimes - sometimes dogs have eaten snail bait or other bad stuff. We have no idea what happened with Brian. We'll take him to a specialist soon.

Thank you all for the good vibes. Last night after Brian came home I was on the treadmill and he came into the room and curled up on a chair. And he farted. And I thought - wow, did I miss those dog farts. So I will never complain about them again.

see how she's losing the hair on her nose? a pretty classic thyroid problem sign. she is also shedding like crazy....we keep the vacuum out at all times :lol: . she's also gained some weight...another thyroid problem indicator. we'll find out when she goes in for chemo on wednesday.

both literally and figuratively, a thyroid problem would be nickle/dime. coupled with her goopy eyes, gracie is one big mess. still happy and goofy, tho.

Penny doesn't chew anything but the toys we give her. Her biggest concern is getting petted enough.
Django was really destructive as a puppy. I lost several clothing items. He will still get things out of the laundry basket If I'm not careful (a big hole in the middle of a sheet, towels, one of my bras a few days ago!) to put it out of reach but his favorite is paper. He even pulls things out of my tote bag and chews them up. Who needs a shredder when you've got this guy?

gracie was just dropped at the vet with a veritable "laundry list"

    1) chemo. doxyrubicin aka the bad one. for the other chemos, it's while you wait. this one takes 3 hours :(

    2) thyroid test. her hair is falling out :(

    3) remove a leftover stitch

    4) heartworm test. vet's suggestion.

    5) figure out why one eye doesn't blink properly. she may have "facial paralysis" . not quite as scary as it sounds and maybe related to the thyroid. her "lip" on the same side kind of droops, too.

Gracie Greene is a hot mess. however.......she humped my leg the other day for the first time since her surgery. a sure sign my girl is feeling GOOD!!

    helloooooooooooo doggie buddies!!!

idk the last i posted here, but, my babies are good.

i also don't remember if i mentioned my "new" (now 1.5 years old  ) pup zack, an awesome brindle french bulldog!

my dear sweet igby, who just turned 10 in may, has had cancer :( but thankfully on the mend/under control. sadly for our wallet though, his monthly meds (which he must take for the rest of his life) cost over $200 a month, plus require monthly bloodtests to the tune of almost another $200 a month ... not even including the benedryl and prilosec he must take, plus his $45 eye drops, and oh yea, food and treats. hahaha. the dog is bankrupting us. :|

that said, my boys are doing GREAT and happy, so, counting my blessings.

lots of hugs and kisses to all the doggies out in pjland.
idk if i'll ever get around to posting anymore pics, i cannot even recall the last time i ever put anything on photobucket. when is this site going to allow you to post instagram pics?

yikes - just read up on gracie. glad she's still hanging in there, but man that's rough. and sure, guess i should stfu about my vet bills. hahaha.

I think, but not sure, that you can do instagram. I boycott that new social media shit  but it seems like maybe norm and lloyd xmas are using some new fangled thing :?

gracie is no doubt going to be a $20K dog. I almost added up her bills yesterday (after the latest $571) but didn't. but how can you put a price on love? :D

But is there a better way to spend $20? Brian's last little adventure cost almost $4,000. His Valium he got if he has a seizure (he hasn't yet, thank goodness) is $60 for three like vial things you stick up his butt. (A job for my husband.) The Valium I get costs $2 for 30 pills.

I think Gracie looks fabulous. Missing fur and all.
