    Welcome Maddy! :D
Im sure she's much happier living a quite retirement life vs. getting picked on by a pitbull!

She's really pretty. What kind of dog is she?

She's the hammy kind! ;):) She loves some attention.

My brother thinks that because she has a blue tongue she's Rottweiler/Chow. I think because of her shape she's Australian Cattle Dog/Rottweiler.

Back in February I took in this sweetie pie, Maddy. She was my brother's dog for nine years until he adopted two pitbulls. One of his pitbulls is sweet as sugar! The other is a huge damn jerk and kept attacking Maddy, so I took her in.

She's about 11 years old now, so she spends most of her days in retirement either taking up my entire full-size bed, or walking around the lake with me:

I'm sure she misses her daddy, but I hope she is happy!

Penny has had a skin infection that made her scratch a lot. The vet gave her some medicine, which has helped, and he also said to bathe her with oatmeal shampoo. I decided I'd just take her to the pet spa for a bath. Then I might as well get Django bathed too. So everybody went off to the spa this morning.

When I went to get them, wow! Their fur was all foofed out and they looked beautiful! I couldn't wait to take pictures of them.

Well, apparently going to the spa is very tiring so they just slept all afternoon.

Finally got a few pics this evening. They are less foofy than when they got home. Still not very energetic although that's partly because of the heat.

They are gorgeous!! Stress causes them to wear out! They get all weirded out by "new" people.. Come home sleep.
Next time, if you want to get a really good after salon pic, take them for a brisk walk. This relieves the stress, comforts them, and rejuvenates them! They are cuties though!

Thanks for the advice! I underestimated what a big deal this would be for them. The spa/pet resort is owned by my vet and adjoins his clinic. They have boarded there before with no problems at all and know the staff so I thought they would be OK. But usually dad bathes them and plays with them afterwards so they don't mind getting baths at home.

We were so busy and this seemed so convenient that I was thinking about doing it again. If I do, I'll plan better.

    I don't think they're foofy, I think they're amazing. Fluffy.

And Gracie looks happy - she doesn't mind wearing clothes?

Brian cut his foot and they wrapped it up and he's been wearing a cone of shame, but we promised him we wouldn't take pictures of him in it. He seems fine though.

those shelties are beyond foofy. super-foofy, maybe :?

gracie doesn't mind the t-shirt at all. she's in it about half the time. she's got no fur to protect her incision so sometimes she gets a little carried away with the scratching

:lol: Poor Brian. Kind of you for not taking pictures of him in it. I'm not sure I could resist.

I had to spend two hours at municipal court today settling Harley's escape/impounding fine. It is always interesting there, but I had other things to do. As it was, the city attorney was very nice when I explained about the boy leaving the gate open, and chuckled when I told him how Harley generally has no ambition whatsoever, other than sleep and eating. And I told him how we don't usually keep the collar on him because he has a collapsing trachea problem and other respiratory issues common in pugs, and he generally doesn't leave the yard much due to a neuro issue that causes him to walk a bit funny, and drag his feet and make the tops of this feet bleed. As I write all this down, I realize my dog is a mess  . But he's always been a mess and we love him anyway. Long story short, the attorney suspended the $300 fine. :D And I only had to pay $25 in court costs. It could have been way worse.
And the sun it may be shining . . . but there's an ocean in my eyes

Maybe I will name my next sheltie Foofy.

Several years ago we had a dog that had the heaviest coat of any of the shelties who've owned us. People use to say things like "Why don't you put her on a diet?" or "Does her stomach touch the ground?" Nobody believed when I said it was fur, not fat.

So when she got older she had cancer. :( She had a large tumor removed from her side and had to be shaved for the surgery. At last people believed me. She wasn't fat!

If you think Penny has a lot of coat, here's how she looked when we first adopted her:

Watched this with my dad, being Japanese he knew the story before hand.
Thought it was just a happy story about a dog.

I almost forgot how big she was, wasn't till I saw this picture that I realised god damn, she was big. She never felt that way when I saw her every day... But now that we're used to Yuki (she's about 50 lbs right now) that I notice how much smaller Yuki is. Not sure if she'll get as big as Sammi, especially cause we don't know her exact breed.
