A friend of mine posted this on FB, thought you girls might enjoy ;)

10 Reasons Why Dogs are Better Than Boyfriends.

They're great listeners. Whether you're dealing with a hard day at work, a jealous friend, or an over-bearing mother - you always have their uninterrupted attention.

Dogs are happy to skip the ballgame or bar night and stay in to "help" you cook. While boyfriends may be critical of your culinary skills, dogs will lap it up and beg for more.

They like you just the way you are. You can get a haircut, wear your sweats all day, go lip gloss free or gain a few pounds. But to them, you're perfect in every way.

You can almost always teach an old dog new tricks. Boyfriends, on the other hand, can take many years of coaching & still be unsuitable to take out in public.

Your mother will love your dog (she might even call them her grand-child). There's no approval needed when you bring home a new pup - she'll feed & spoil them - even if they cause a "stink".

Dogs love your friends and they're always down to hang with the girls. Bring along some treats and they're happy to join you on shopping excursions (especially if they can fit in your purse).

They love to snuggle up any time of day or night. If you're sick, they'll cuddle with you for hours and won't say a word about your current aesthetic state or the number of Kleenexes on the bed.

Dogs are happy to join in any exercise routine - and unlike a boyfriend, they won't judge your technique, try to time your reps, or correct your form.

They always let you watch what you want (but you might be sharing the popcorn). Plus, they won't ask you to explain why you love sappy chick-flicks or vampire dramas. The remote is all yours!

You're never too old for your dog. They'll never prefer a younger owner and they'll love you no matter how many miles on your clock, or wrinkles around your eyes.
    peace,
    jo

Poor sweet Norm. I think our Ernst had that, isn't the surgery like a bizillion dollars? He recovered fully though.

Now I remember the hard part - we had to board our other dog for a while because Ernst wasn't allowed to be too active. But Norm's an only child, right?

    Hugs and treats to Norm.

yeah he's an only child but he isn't exactly a lump of fur  oh boy is this gonna be not fun

ron, i'm not sure what happened...last week on our walk he started kinda limping but nothing too bad...and then a couple mornings ago after being in the backyard for a while he was limping badly and couldn't put any weight on it

ugh, this isn't gonna be fun

Maggie Mae started limping on her walks, then snapped at a child one day,
it turned out to be a brain tumor close to her inner ear.
She was gone a short 10 weeks later...

I'll pray it is something very treatable for Norm, no matter the cost.
Norm is very lovely and I know much loved.

Sorry to hear about norm... price is $1500-3000 (I hope he only needs one knee done)
I've seen lots of torn ligament surgeries, they do really well. Depending on when you get the surgery, Norm may be able to go to Montana, just not be able to run around and play.

if it makes you feel any better, a girl I worked with, her dog had the right knee done. As soon as the incision healed, he started bouncing all over the place again, and then tore the left knee...back in for surgery. She wasn't too happy.

    Poor Normie...poor norm's wallet/bank account.

Bummer. But this sentence encouraged me:
Most dogs (over 90%) are expected to regain a very active and athletic lifestyle with no post-operative complications and without the need for any long-term pain relieving medication.
Here's to a speedy recovery, Norm!
