Yeah my husband showers, rubs his hair dry with a towel and he looks great. I, on the other hand, have to use a whole dressing table full of makeup and other various items to get myself looking like a human being.0 -

My girlfriend is far better looking than I am even though she says that I'm hot. I usually tell her to stop lying.

yeah, but not at the beginning of the relationship. I think as women, we try hard to be attractive still, (confined of course by good taste and the desire not to look like we are trying to be young girls), whereas men, some men, think when they are married that they don't have to try to stay desireable looking. I know that there are a lot of men who still maintain their looks but there are a lot also that I see that have allowed themselves to get beer guts, or have slacked off on their hygiene and that is gross.
I agree with your mom; I would say the same thing....that's funny that she and I think the same. But I also have been known to say, "she is cute, why is she with him?" but that is only if the guy is an ass and also unattractive. that is awful...........

So I am watching a show, I won't admit what it isBut the topic is having a significant other that is better looking then you. And I think this is interesting, because they are discussing how feeling "less than" in a physical sense can hurt a relationship and cause stress.
Does anyone have experience with this? I know my mom will always say, "Oh, she is better looking for a girl then he is for a guy" or vice versa. If someone always thinks their bf/gf is better looking than them, there will ALWAYS be problems and it will strain the relationship. This doesnt mean be full of yourself but just be secure! Theres someone on here that is way too hott for me and i KNOW if we ever got together it would be CRAZY! BUT.....i dont have a low self esteem so its all good!~~~~~~ALWAYS HAVE A GOOD TIME~~~~~~

I can't recall a time where I was with a female and she said "Wow, I'm pretty good looking compared to that girl". Not that its the most pleasant and becoming statement, but neither is "Wow, she is so much prettier then me, I'm so ugly" You know?
I have been around many guys who will be quick to tell you how much better looking they are then the next guy.The Astoria??? Orgazmic!

I can understand the "letting yourself go" mentality slightly, and the whole beer gut thing, but hygiene? I've been told I have very good personal hygiene, especially for a guy, but it's not, and never has been, for anyone else. It's for ME. And it always will be. I can't see myself letting the hygiene thing go, ever. Maybe i'm just a clean person.

I don't think people should be compared to their significant other when in relationships. At the end of the day, it's the opinions of the people in the relationship that should matter. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say
Sure, people have insecurities but trust me, I've seen enough people that they, and the masses, would consider gorgeous that really aren't. I like to think that people's personalities shine through in their outwardly appearance and an ugly personality can be spotted miles off... irrelevant of the make up they cake on or how much they flick their perfectly quaffed hair.
As for make up? I don't use anywhere near as much as I used to (ask urbanhippie!). Alot of that is down to Dave. Being in a relationship with him has boosted my confidence no end, he makes me feel really loved and gorgeous and always tells me, whether it's on my way out the door in make up or first thing the morning after and I resemble more of a panda than a human being... and right there is the key. Anyone is gorgeous to someone, as long as they're aware of it.
I always look at Dave and say "how in the hell did I get someone as gorgeous as you?!" (no matter how much he's convinced he's not) but then he asks me the same question... we're a perfect fit and that's all that counts.
I hate the thought of outsiders comparing us but unfortunately, i'm sure it happens :rolleyes:Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.0 -
I am with a woman who is better looking that me. Does it cause trouble... nah!0

audiodave wrote:But that's in your opinion. I'm sure your husband thinks you look great when you wake up in the morning. But then i'm one of these people who doesn't really like make up, and don't think most women need it. My significant other certainly doesn't, and I tell her as much. She looks absolutely gorgeous first thing in the morning. My point is...it might be in your head that you don't look as good as him when you wake up. Society tells women they need make up when the reality is most of them really don't.
Well, that is true. He does and tells me as much all the time.
But what does he know? He's just blinded by love, I think.0 -
