Will there be a certain "someone" playing at this?

yeah, i'm pretty sure ed's gonna be there!!
there was an ad pretty recently in my entertainment magazine that says 'stand up 2 cancer', the date of the show, and listed a bunch of celebrities, and lo and behond, mr. eddie vedder was on that list!! i'm sure he'll perform 'rise', which is an amazing song
  • I heard the song played on a promo on 660 AM radio in NY during a commercial.

My friend Anna told me today that she is one of the phone answering people for SU2C tomorrow night. I asked her if she was prepared for all of the hang ups she was going to get when the caller realized they were NOT going to get to talk to a celebrity. LOL She said there was a whole section on how to handle irate people who wanted to talk to a specific person!

Make a lot of calls, people! If you get Anna, tell her "Hello!" If you get Ed, call me!

Who's gonna relay if Ed is on? ;)

Does anyone know where the actual show will take place? I was curious if it WAS in NYC since the commercial shows locations in NYC; Staten Island Ferry, Central Park, Grand Central Station, Wrigley Field, etc. I searched the web a bit but found nothing yet.

i know-it's fuicking ridiculous. I think Ed backed out because of all the shitty performers though, this really sucks big time, I mean I support a cure to cancer but the only good person was James Taylor

No sh*t. Rise would have been great. I could imagine the whole audience standing at once. Could have been very uplifting. :-\

agreed. Weird! Something must have transpired. He was listed as a performer in an ad I saw (in Us Weekly).

Melissa Etheridge is a great singer though. It's powerful to see her there, as a cancer survivor.

I watched it. I liked it. I have had cancer, so I might be a bit biased, but I liked the "kick ass" attitude of it without all the BS. I was a little bit sad that Ed didn't make an appearance, and a little confused by both presidential candidates responses, but all in all it was good. It was meant to be a fundraiser, not an entertainment show and I think they probably raised a ton of money. We got busy signals for a loooong time.

I like that one of the thoughts behind SU2C is to get better treatments to patients faster. I used the antibody that was partially featured. They didn't name it, but it was most likely Herceptin (or the derivitive of it, but the name escapes me right now). This is an example of a drug that is pretty non-toxic, but it works "miracles". At least I hope so!!! Herceptin could have saved lots of lives, but it took a long time to be available (especially for early-stage women like me).

We called twice to donate, splitting it up. Both times, we got just regular old folks. :)

i know. but we shouldn't fight about it here. we should focus on what the show was all about and it's message to us all. to stand up 2 cancer.

I know! I just want to give him a big KISS!!! Wow--I know that he has a ton of money, but there are a lot of people with a ton of money who don't donate to causes (whatever they may be). I would like to think that I would too, and not just the ones that apply to me. :)
