    Maybe it's the subjects that you don't find too amusing, and not the person?

    no...for the most part it's usually the person. sometimes you just need to go with the flow. they're as bad as one-uppers. this should be a seinfeld episode.

    i've learned to just nod and smile and silently think in my head what a jack@ss they are. it's easier that way. :D

    Yep. There's this kid in one of my classes who constantly feels the need to elaborate on everything the professor says (especially when it adds nothing to the discussion) and loves bringing up obscure world events that he's sure only he knows about. I bet he ruined dozens of keyboards from masturbating over Wikipedia articles.
