TSN Hockey Analyst Aaron Ward reports that the New York Rangers are expected to announce the signing of defenceman Ryan McDonagh to a six-year contract extension.

Larry Brooks of The New York Post adds that the deal averages out to $4.7 million a season.

McDonagh, 24, has played in 169 regular season games with the Rangers. Over that span, he has 12 goals and 60 points with 80 penalty minutes.

McDonagh was taken 12th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2007 and was dealt to New York as part of the Scott Gomez trade.

I'm not privey to any " inside " information,
but Henrik was really the only one that was semi-outspoken.
I'd also say he gets a pass.

second that.....and I dont think it was about being "mean" as much as it was his "system"

His system won 189 games in 3.5 years, and took them to the playoffs three times.

Don't get me wrong, I love this team, but I think Tortorella will win another cup before they do.
