Perhaps this hiccup was for the best -- perhaps the Rangers needed a bit of a wake-up call, to come back down to earth and remember that it is possible for them to lose a game. Hopefully, with a second chance against the last place Lightning tomorrow night in Tampa, they get to demonstrate that the lesson was quickly learned. In the meantime, Ranger fans find themselves flabbergasted at wishing a speedy recovery for Marek Malik so that we don't have to witness too much more of the Backman-Strudwick pairing -- after a decent start to this game, Backman was a one-man mistake spree over the last half (except on the game-winner -- he was all over his man, Rosti Olesz, with Strudwick the one who let Olli Jokinen loose).

that's probably right since renney mentioned that they could have been much better defensively in the home games against boston, the islanders and philadelphia.

I don't know why. But that empty net attemp by the lightning's goalie rubbed me the wrong way.

Why are they playing on MSG +2. They should move those games to MSG and put the Knicks on MSG +2.

msg PLUS = the old FSNY .

you dont have that on your cable ?

even tho the knicks are horrible , baskets still gets the preference / audience.

actually not this year, i read recently that ratings for rangers games are higher than the knicks for the first time.

I know about the FSNY change to MSG +. But they're playing on MSG+2. Not Msg 2 or Msg +. I think all local teams are playing on Friday and the Rangers are relegated to the 4th MSG channel. It's hard enough for people to find MSG 2. Now for them to find MSG+2. They need to change that.

Rangers Have to Regroup Instantly
There is no margin for error -- the Rangers have bounced back before, and they simply must bounce back again, and they must do it instantly. The playoff race can change that quickly -- just three days ago, all accounting was how impossible it would be for teams below the line to catch the Rangers is they just played .500 the rest of the way, but having blown two games, they now have to play better than .500 the rest of the way. But nothing has gotten their juices flowing better than divisional games, and that's all that's left on the slate, beginning with tomorrow night's Garden tilt vs. the Pens and trips to New Jersey and Philadelphia, three games in four nights.
