Cloverfield

I was annoyed with the obviously similarities with 9/11. I swear i've seen some of those exact same scenes in news footage. We all know what dust clouds from falling buildings and people running through the streets of manhatten looks like. Couldn't this have been set in LA?
Other than that it was an alright movie. More about the people and less about the awesome monster.<a href="http://www.last.fm/user/Krisdababe/?chartstyle=Krisdababe"><img src="http://imagegen.last.fm/Krisdababe/recenttracks/Krisdababe.gif" border="0" /></a>

I thought it was good, except the whole helicopter thing was a complete waste and ruined that last section for me.0 -

yes, yes I am
I just thought it was over-hyped for a pretty standard movie.
Also, there was no explanation... when will film makers realise that this isn't 'artistic licence', it doesn't make for a striking ending or make a good cliff hanger.... it's is just irritating.... really feckin irritating...
tbh, I comatosed half way through and put the world to rights in my own mind... not a good sign...
oh, and the monster was shite.
*shakes head* so disappointed....

I thought some parts were funny too - I get great amusement out of watching people being wobbly and bleeding to death, in the same way I found it funny the way people fell off the ship in Titanic!
Also, storyline... meh. If "the world was ending", fucked if I'd go rescue anyone, I'd be with the black dudes wreckin the place
And yeah, the monster itself was ok, but it did just randomly plonk itself in the middle of New York without anyone noticing. Dammit... now you got me thinkin about it!0 -
Bad acting, awful dialogue, predictable story, the middle bit was alright, but the beginning and the end were crapola.0

see!! it just 'appeared' and no one asked any questions!
FAIL!!
I think the monster concept was poor as well, was it an alien? was it a 'monster'? was it a dinosaur type creature?! It was like a bastard hybrid of the stereotypical ideas of all three, like they couldn't make up their minds what they wanted to ravage NY... ie. shite.
I think I was the only person in our screen actually laughing at the death scenes too... *looks shifty*Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

haha, that was me too. It didn't help that most of the characters were so damn smug and annoying that I couldn't care less if they were eaten alive!0 -
i am very neutral on this movie. didn't like it, but didn't hate it.
outside of the whole monster attack plot, there were some scenes that were so unrealistic (ie: the apartment scene at the end. come on now, you are not going in that building).0 -

see, my bitch was the lack of sensibility and REALITY... who really would've gone into THAT building?! yep, no one in their right mind, yet in they jogged.... And everyone KNOWS you shouldn't pull out the offending sharp object in an impaling, due to a niggley little thing called BLEEDING TO DEATH... oh but guess what?! they pulled it out anyways!! *sarcastic slow round of applause*
I felt almost as cheated as I did watching Hostel and Wolf Creek... However, I did laugh, loudly, when the spike was removed and when that guy slumped dead infront of the camera... I couldn't help it!!

Oh yeah, I forgot she got impaled, then a few minutes later was running down the street! HILARIOUS!0

Saw it last night, and overall I liked the movie, but I get what you guys are saying. They also wouldn't have survived the helo crash.
My biggest beef going into it was that I didn't think they'd show the monster other than what you see in the trailers, but I was pleasantly surprised.
edit - I was getting sick by the end. And the word 'Rob' was annoyingly overused...0 -

...so were "oh god", "jesus christ", "run" and "oh fuck". I'd love to be getting eaten by a monster just so I could scream at the sky "Ed Vedder god... why have you done this to meeeeeee?!"0 -
I fully enojoyed it for what it was: Blair Witch meets Godzilla with a $150 million budget.Bright eyed kid: "Wow Typo Man, you're the best!"
Typo Man: "Thanks kidz, but remembir, stay in skool!"0 -
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.0
