i'm not really sold on veras. he's got plus stuff, but i don't see him putting it together before 2008. i'd take just about anyone who throws left handed over veras in the bullpen:
al leiter, johnny damon, michael vick, kurt cobain, you get the point...
maybe they should have tried chase wright in that role in september if they weren't willing to use villone.0 -

i wouldn't worry about it now, but if the yankees have to even use the last guy in the bullpen in a nine-inning game that would be a problem. but i really like ohlendorf's stuff.Reading 2004

very true, although it's nice to have the lefty-lefty matchup if needed.
vizcaino is probably the biggest bullpen concern since he'll likely end up as the seventh inning guy.
i wouldn't mind seeing ohlendorf get a key inning or two.0 -

I trust Vizcaino. here's i see how is breaking down.
one-run game:
-Vizcaino - sixth
-Chamberlain - seventh and eighth
- Rivera - ninth
two-run game
-Farnsworth - sixth
Vizcaino - to start the seventh
Chamberlain - eighth
Rivera - ninth
At some point in this series, I'd think Farnsworth would be asked to get a big out and we'll see if the windup he used in his last two outings translates to success.
The other guys are mix and match or there for a blowout if one does happen.
And those projections are more geared towards Game Three and Four as I don't expect Clemens and Mussina to get past the sixth while I figure Wang and Pettitte can get to the seventh.Reading 2004

big thing with FWorth is that he can't really pitch 2 days in a row. Use him in Game 1 nd he's pretty much out for Game 20

which is why i'd go with him in game two if i had to since they have saturday off. and same thing for game four if they have to since they have tuesday off if there's a game five.
he only pitched twice on consecutive days after the break.
july 14-15 he gave up one run and three hits in two innings
sept 24-25 he pitched two hitless innings
before the break he pitched on consecutive days three times, one instance was a blown save against seattle and another was a three-run debacle in san francisco.
last year he pitched consecutive days 12 times, including three in a row in late May when he picked up a blown save and then had a day off and had two more blown saves.Reading 2004

BetterManningNYG wrote:well the indians have a good team, and wang's ability to pitch on the road worries me.
the other part of it is that no one wants to hear why the yankees are gonna win. ESPN knows this as well as anyone. it doesn't make for good reporting. people watch the playoffs to see the yankees lose. a great use of their time, i'm sure.
the fact that sabathia hasn't faced the yankees since '04 might be a cause for concern. the yankees don't do well against pitchers they haven't seen, and in this case we're talking about one of the best in the league. also, they were terrible all year against lefties on the road.
lol... you called him a "she." i don't even think it was on purpose either. that's what makes it so funny.
yeah but they know from Sabathia, it's not like it's a rookie

he said he's good to go when i asked him about it, he said that getting the fluid out eliminated the pain.
the thing with having giambi on the bench is having a power hitter and a good personality. many other players that have the amount of home runs that giambi has would complain but he doesn't and can come in and hit a late-inning home run or a big hit.Reading 2004
