walden freeman wrote:I'd recommend BJJ. Aikido is not so practical in terms of application. The problem with more traditional MA styles is that they tend to be practiced in ideal settings with a cooperative partner who does not resist your technique, follow through with a punch, pull away, etc.
In BJJ, Boxing, Muay Thai, etc. you practice against an opponent who is resisting and simultaneously trying to get their techniques off on you.
I'm not saying Aikido is bad, but I don't really agree with the training philosophy.
I know, but I don't really care whether it's practical in terms of application or not. I'm just interested in it, in the moves, the footwork, the whole thing.
Anyway, I'm still looking into different martial arts, Jujutsu, Jiu Jitsu, Karate or Aikido.
And, it is indeed practised in a staged setting with a cooperative partner but that doesn't mean it's impractical in a real situation.THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

I was kidding about the ballet, but many guys who train BJJ do yoga. The flexibility is key.

We don't have any mountains here and I always hated climbing those fake walls even though my obvious talent for it.
Then I went rock climbing in New York (The Gunks) and I freakin' loved it. I'm going to the Czech republic for half a year and I hope I can try it again while I'm there. It's truly one of the greatest sports I've ever done.THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!
