What I'm confident about is that you said this:

"I thought "god's will" was going to deliver the election to McCain and Palin.. at least that is what she so brilliantly commented last week"

..and that there is no eveidence at all that she said this in that article. I understand you read into that, and perceived she said it, but that's different than her saying it.

also, asking for God's intervention and prayers of support is different than saying it's God's will that they be delivered the election.

Look.. I really have no desire to get into this with you.. from reading your other posts over the years you certainly enjoy this type of banter.. I do not care to examine word for freakin word with you..

You see things from your perspective and I will see things from my perspective.. I kind of "agree to disagree" if you will..

Sarah Palin: "To me, it motivates us, makes us work that much harder,” ... “And it also strengthens my faith because I know at the end of the day putting this in God’s hands, the right thing for America will be done, at the end of the day on Nov. 4.”
    ...
Which goes to show... by 'doing the right thing for America', even God didn't want Sarah Palin in the White House.

Obviously it was God's will that Obama be elected. Duh! ;)

  • Ok.. you want to see it as that go for it..

I on the other hand am pretty confident with exactly what she meant with that comment.

I, good sir, am pretty confident that you should quit Christian-bashing. How do you know what she meant? Did you ask a Magic 8-Ball or something?

She may have been alluding to the fact that she "thought" God would produce her intended result, although what she was quoted as saying was, "And it also strengthens my faith because I know at the end of the day putting this in God’s hands, the right thing for America will be done, at the end of the day on Nov. 4.”

Sounds me to me like she didn't assume to know the outcome but would accept it because it was being left to the higher power.

Racism can rear its ugly head in a variety of contexts. Bashing everyone in a group because of the actions of few is ridiculous and shows that, while you support Obama, you are not a supporter of the ideals of humanity.

and you know what hailhail.. I am delighted for it to be "YOUR" turn. Enjoy it.

Actually, you liberals have always been pompous assholes who feel they are more informed then everyone else, which doesn't make sense since you all can't even comprehend a conservative listening to Pearl Jam. Sure shows that you only inform yourself with what you already agree with.

i hate this us/them mentality...especially since we are all citizens of this country. i more than likely am part of the 'you liberals'...however, i can quite understand a conservative being able to enjoy pearl jam's music. great music is great music....and as a great art, one can take from it what one wants. tis the beauty of all the arts.

and in reference to 'god's will'...while i am not truly a believer in all that, being well-raised in a very catholic household, i full well know it's meaning, and in that case....god's will was done, in that what is meant to be...is. god is said to have given US all FREE WILL, so all that occurs is god's will, since he gave us that gift. some may like to skew such language and the whole 'if god is on our side who can be against us'....but honestly, that is a completely skewed pov of the terminology of 'god's will.' as to palin's intent with the comment, i think we can all fairly speculate, but bottomline....it's all speculation.

for me, i said so earlier.......seperation of church and state. keep god out of my government.

Ok first of all.. I am not a sir.

Secondly.. where exactly am I bashing Christians?

Thirdly.. since Sarah Palin came on to the seen it has been this bullshit that somehow god was on "their" side.. that god had granted them as the "choosen one".. Barack Obama was not even a christian according to them.. The entire republican party has been hijacked by the Christian Right.. so for you to say that when she made the comment that god's will would be done ~ it meant that god would deliver them the presidency. There was no magic 8 ball needed to understand that.

    God didn't vote.

He's a busy guy and certainly did not have the time to wait in line for 7 hours at a fucking polling station outside of Bethlehem NY.

As God was leaving he was qouted as saying:

" Jesus Christ!!! 5 voting booths?? In 2012, These idiots had better get their shit toghether, or else there's going to be Hell to Pay"!!

    "Voter Registration"?
    "What's wrong with you people"?
"Don't you know who I am"?

it sounds like the problem in this instance is you didnt understand palins intent, whereas i and others did. palin was arrogant enough to believe she had God on her side. she was not wishing her opponent well at her expense.

the only will i acknowledge is my own. of all the people on this board angelice i thought YOU would have the capacity to understand that concept as the ultimate self determination and accepting responsibility for ones actions, and destiny as it were.
and lets not even get into to what degree free will is an illusion.

Right...so you don't know what it is to put your faith in God's will...Whether one is arrogant, or wants one's 'side' to win, or whether one thinks God is naturally on one's side....putting your faith in God's will supercedes all of that and is a category all it's own.

i was thinking that we can act out our will with the purest intent but if just one other person is involved then our will can be negated. so to a certain extent we have free will to act but it doesnt mean the outcome will be what we want or expect. its more like a promise of pursuit.
