Here we go-McCain staffers scooping on Palin

If Palin hadn't been tabbed for this post her lack of basic knowledge wouldn't have been a big deal. She could have said to the RNC that she didn't think she was ready for a run for national office. Instead, her lust for recognition and power led her to this end. I don't think she's being unfairly scrutinized. In fact, I think this off-the-record information was important enough that it should have been reported while McCain was still on the trail. Do we really need a VP who doesn't know that Africa is a continent? Or one whose judgement is so poor that she decided to wing it on a nationally televised interview? Say what you will about Cheney, but at least the guy was qualified for his role. He was a scumbag, but he was a qualified scumbag.

Here's the thing. These pieces of information are not surprising to me. What was surprising to me was how when Palin was getting hammered for being unprepared and uninformed, how many people screamed at how biased all of us on the left are, and how Palin "has more experience than Obama" and how Palin is terrific and a maverick herself and how she took on her own party and how she is the most popular governor ever, etc., etc., etc. These statements went on to the last minute of this campaign, and make no mistake about it -- McCain did not select her because he was trying to lose. Just the opposite. She was a "game changer" that actually succeeded in bringing support until the shit hit the fan and people started realizing McCain himself was not the right choice given the economy.

This almost happened. Palin almost got in. A cancerous 72 year old heartbeat away from the presidency. That is what is unbelievable to me.

Are you completely void of reason and sanity? Do you defend the conservative right till no end? Can you not admit that Gov. Palin was not smart enough to be the president of the United States? Oh my god, if that is really what the right thinks is a real candidate, it will be a long, lng time before they ever see the white house again. With her selection, they already lost so much credibility and have proven that they do not take it seriously. With such grave decisions at stake, they pick Palin.

Are you completely void of critical thinking? They aren't blaming the loss on her not knowing about NAFTA and Africa.....no one knew about this before the election so how could it effect the outcome?

These people pointing at Palin are just looking out for themselves. I'm not saying that she was a good pick, because in my opinion she is one of the reasons McCain lost the election. These staffers and aides where part of the horribly managed campaign and they will throw anyone under the bus in order to save face and have the opportunity to get onto the next campaign. John McCain was the top of the ticket all responsibility falls on him, not Palin, not the campaign managers, staff or aides. It was him because he has the final say in what is done.

I'd like to see some information on how many, if any, conservative voters stayed home on election day because they couldn't vote for Obama and wouldn't vote for McCain because they were concerned that Palin could end up in the White House during McCain's first term.

I'd imagine most people who thought Palin was unqualified were probably voting for Obama regardless.

  • This just proves that Palin was the perfect candidate to pull the vote of the ignorant masses.
Sadly there are many people in this country that would say they identified with Palin because they thought she was "down to earth" which is code for, "she's not overly intelligent and neither am I so we can relate".

"Off the record" usually is something that is incriminating or opinion. If she didn't know that Africa was a continent, that is a fact and is not off the record. Just shows you how slanted Fox News is.

If Mccain had won, would they have done the story? I don't think so.

There were several reporters who had this behind the scenes look. I saw an interview on MSNBC this morning with a Newseek reporter who finally was allowed to release information about the campaign. This was part of their deal. They got a lot of access that they normally would not have received because they promised to keep it off the record until after the election.

This wasn't a Fox News slant. Why would they want to smear a Republican if that Republican wanted to run for office in four years. This FoxNews hate is ridiculous.

why amazing?? FOXNEWS is fair and balanced.

    bwahahahaha :D:D

Much more fair and balanced than MSNBC. MSNBC has Joe Scarborough, and that is it for conservative thinkers. And guess what, like any good conservative, he is fairly critical of each party.

I like Scarborough a lot but he is about the only fair and balanced conservative talk show host out there, O'Reilly is sometimes. For the most part they are just as bad as liberal talk show hosts.

So now when a Republican agrees with what you liberals have been yelling about for two months, there is a big conspiracy and FoxNews is behind it? What a joke.

Not in reference to you or your quote, but for a liberal to bash FoxNews, and say absolutely nothing about MSNBC's blatant support of Obama, is ridiculous. MSNBC for the last two months reported NOTHING on Barack Obama, but every story was a negative on John McCain and Sarah Palin. I know this because I watch MSNBC all the time, as I've realized I'd rather be angry most of the time.

MSNBC is definitely as biased towards the left as Fox News is towards the right. It is extremely hard to find a fair and balanced news source in this country.

You've done the same thing for Fox News, however, you've defended as being far more fair and balanced than anything on MSNBC while failing to acknowledge their own disturbingly right stance on the issues. Hannity, Hume, O'Reilly, etc. If we want to talk about MSNBC, let's talk about MSNBC, but don't accuse liberals of being 'sheep' and then try to defend Fox News as being anything resembling 'fair and balanced.' You'd be doing the exact thing you're criticizing liberals for.

Actually he said 57 states not 60, and there's a difference between making a mistake and actually still thinking there are 57 states. Obama made a gaffe, he knows there aren't 57 states. Palin is a category 5 moron! There's a huge difference. She doesn't know Africa is a continent, can't even name a single publication she reads (probably because she doesn't read any) doesn't know what nations are in NAFTA...Ya know what? It doesn't matter anyway. She's DONE! We have our future president, and fortunately he's not a MORON!

That's also not true they have reported plenty on Obama. If you actually watch MSNBC like you say you do, you'd know Pat Buchanan (Conservative Republican) had a lot to say about Obama, how he didn't support Obama. The same goes for Joe Scarborough (Former Republican Congressman). Those two are full time MSNBC correspondents and there are others. The same thing you complain about people doing towards FoxNews, you do towards MSNBC. I've seen at least 5 posts of yours bitching about MSNBC. The difference is FIXEDNews is more slanted than any other network in the world, with the exception of maybe Al-Jazeera.

I'm liberal amd I watch Fox News and I don't at all blame how and why they broadcast their news the way they do. Just sometimes it's tough to watch and I'll switch out or turn it off. MSNBC, CNN and another all appear are in support of Obama so I don't blame FN for their biased point of view.

I watch them along with independent news (no corporate influence broadcast) like Democracy Now.

Don't bother. Judging by his postings, I think unfortunately for pjalive21 he's in for a very long four years. There's going to be people who hate Obama and everything he does no matter what he does, as there will be people who love what he does no matter what. I'm expecting there to be a whole lot in the middle where a good discussion can take place.

I'm not an Obama supporter but I'm willing to give the guy a shot. he won the election and now we need to make sure that our elected officials are held to task. I just don't understand how people, like pjalive21, can still be holding on to the negative hyper-partisan environment from the last 8 years. That mindset was so damaging to this country. It redirects our focus, which should be on making sure that government does it job, to finding flaws with the other party and ignoring the flaws within your own. It's high time to get past this my team is better than yours attitude and start working together.

you misunderstood ... my point is there is a faction of the Republican party that probably wanted this hatchet job done on her so she didn't rise to the top of the GOP ... and Carl Cameron was more than happy to report on these things.

Beleive me, I'm no Palin sympathizer ... she's a dolt. It's not a conspiracy, just how the GOP works behind the scenes.

At least I know Obama is capable of learning and retaining knowledge. Which is more than I can say for Palin. That gal really ought to crack open a few books in the next 4 years and do some learnin' before she attempts another run at this thing.

Not sure about the grapes, wine, ass thing though. I think only Jesus could do that. But whatever.

Palin was/is no more qualified than any other candidate that was on the ticket. Obama is in no way the best candidate for the job but Palin would have been ruinous. She would have taken the damage inflicted by the Bush administration and multiplied it 10 fold. with all that is going on right now we need a candidate who would unite the country in order to get us past our troubles, not one who would continue to widen the current divide.
