seems to be a generational problem with US and Iran relations. the old hardliners who have seen alot of war and want an Islamic hard line Theocracy vs. a young open minded democratic people.
the US certainly isnt doing much to panda to the young crowd right now. moreover seems to be pissing them off.

Great assessment. The majority of the Iranian population want a more westernized democratic society. By engaging in hostile actions towards Iran we could very well be squandering the support we have there amongst the people.

once again, the leaders....i somewhat agree with the assessment also.
but if they don't overthrow their gov't, what can we do?

we have to deal with who's in charge....
overthrowing the government??? are you nuts? thats not our job. its the people of Iran who make that decision. and with a young open minded educated public, democracy and freedom has a chance there.
but if we force them too, we have a risk of creating a whole new generation of people who hate us.

The cycle has to stop somewhere. Vowing to hunt down every terrorist in the world is not only impossible, but I'm puzzled as to how the media even sold everyone this nonsensical idea.
It's human nature 101. Call and treat someone like your enemy every day and they will become your enemy. It's 100%. You know the saying you only get out what you put in...yada yada.. what goes around comes around...etc. etc..
Vowing to hunt down and destroy a tactic is crazy talk. Vowing to make a fresh positive start is going somewhere.
I personally question the intention of those in power, because you know they know this but constantly choose to ignore it.
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.
but when a nutjob is spouting all that shit, you may not have the time it takes
As long as it is just words we do nothing. We have no proof that they are weaponizing their nuclear program, in fact all the evidence points to the reality that they are not. Now that doesn't mean that we should completely trust them. Keep monitoring them and refrain from all the military options talk. All we are doing is playing right into his hands. Amedinajhad popularity is just about as bad as Bush's popularity is here. An outside threat is exactly what he needs to foster support for him and we are stupid enough to provide that for him. Stop threatening Iran so the focus is taken off of us and placed back on him in his own country.

I see you're still sore from 9/11 and don't think the time has fit the crime yet.
All Muslims must die the end?
What I want is to stop imposing. What you want is to create more and more towards infinity.
I think you got sold pretty hard on the pre-emptive idiocy act. the big bad boogey man is coming.
The US had Iran's sympathy and compassion on 9/11. Look what Bush did to it so little time. Keep supporting your own self destruction....that road leads nowhere.
there was more than 9/11...a lot of shit happened while bro bill was getting some head.
on the imposing, what is adjhenanuthead doing to his people?
tell you the truth, i heard the day gwb said that crap about any terrorist or safe harbor countries, are against us.
i knew what he said, i knew what it meant...
i knew it scared the shit outta me....but i also know, that something had to be done. damn glad we stopped being the prison bitch for the world.

ok we do nothing....it turns out he's a fucking liar.
ok we do nothing....it turns out he's a fucking liar.
then what?
Then we take the necessary actions. We will know well before he is capable of attacking us or anyone else wether he has the means to or not. Remember they would need to test a delivery system and it would be at that point that his intentions would be unveiled.

Exactly. I would be playing kill them with kindness to either surface the real problem, or (god forbid) actually see eye to eye and make amends.
If Bush really is a god fearing man of international greatness, he should really start acting like it, and put the ball back in Iran's court and call them on their word. Is kindness and patience now dead in US politics regardless of intent? Is it all just threats and violence now? Take everything they (Iran) has to say at face value and make them live up to their own words in the international community.
What's the big deal? Where is everyone going in such a hurry?

that's great, in the meantime, he supports terrorism, period. fueling unrest over there...wanting israel gone, etc....as much crap as you throw at the US for doing that stuff, how come he doesn't get the same?
who's to say iran has to test it themselves? big buddies with russia, etc.

Well as far as him saying Israel should be destroyed, so fucking what. It just words and until he can't back that up with actions so let him spout his shit off. Secondly we support terrorism so who the fuck are we to talk. If we want to throw stones maybe we should move out of glass house first.
Russia would never in a million years provide Iran with a delivery system for a nuclear weapon. They know that those missles could easily be pointed at them.

Dude, the US has attacked and invaded their neighbor for some substantial years now.
How many Iranian troops are in your neighborhood?
Uhh sorry....cuts which way?

that's the point funny man...he's all about the US keeping their nose outta everyones biz, iran should keep their nose outta iraq
And do you think they would have their nose in Iraq if we didn't go there?
I could care less if Iran sticks their noses in Iraq or Pakistan or Afghanistan or any of it's other neighbors.

With us being in Iraq? yes... I don't want us invading any country... I don't care about what Iran does to it's neighbors, because I don't live in Iran or one of the countries that they would be sticking their nose in.
Now if they got involved in Canada or Mexico or somewhere close, then I would have a problem with it, but I (along with most republicans before this administration) don't think that we should play world policeman whenever someone half the globe away does something annoying in another country.

what part of the world are you in? in another thread it was implied you aren't american...what nationality are you?
to answer yr question, my greatgreatgreatgreatgreat grandpa killed a lot of injuns to give me my home?
It's about the US and the middle east, and the relationship(s) therein. I could be from planet Xenon and it would matter little.
Is your home not big enough? Is the job is not done yet?...is the middle East the new Texas?
Here we are in 2007 and the US gov't is threatening nuclear war, in a brand new war, against a neighbor of a country they are already occupying.
The US is also flaunting nuclear capabilities in spite of. This is the message the US is giving to the world. Honestly, it's a bit of a catastrophe to put it lightly.
The US is the global spotlight... so ...please....set the standard already and live by it.
Stop killing every thing that looks at you funny in the middle east, because that all is coming back in the future....it will wrap around for another go...but with a deeper more seeded intensity of hatred. Like Jlew was saying we gotta line up some generations and provide the right message (and reality), and wipe this shit clean. That is our responsibility. we are granted the wisdom and this is how we should be using it. It channels downwards into new lives.
It's some good advice.
Are we not learning anything anymore from all this?

Nothing. We have already meddled in Iranian affairs once and it came back to bite us in the ass. Change takes time.
