Texas School District Will Let Teachers Carry Guns

this thread is funny. everyone going batshit crazy cuz some little texas school says its ok to wear a gun to school, in which one guy will probably bring one a couple of times. nobody is gonna get shot over this.
this idea that they are just gonna start plugging kids for talking back is nonsense.0 -

Inappropriate sexual relations w/ a student gone bad . . .
Many possibilities.
On top of that there is dealing with Jackass parents, school administrators, school board members, stupid policies, crappy pay, being forced to teach creation as science, lots of reasons a teacher might get pissed off. Sure it’s a great idea to let them carry guns in school.0 -
in twelve years of public school i never saw a teacher get mad enough to shoot a kid if he/she had a gun.0

It's not about this little Texas school per se., it is about the Policy is establishes.
Nowadays a person doesn't have to get mad, all they have to do to justify a shooting is to claim they had a fear for their safety.SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.0 -

I am sure there are a lot of postal workers who could say something very similar about their jobs. That doesn't mean that it is a good idea to make mail bags with built in holsters.0 -
Well, it's about time.
Teachers should be the ones going on violent rampages with guns ablazing at our schools... not the students.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

"Yesss sirrrrr...:-("
I don't know... but, that actually makes you look more like a pussy... than anything else. I mean, you need a fucking gun... as a grown adult... to get a kid in line.
Pussies use guns to get even... like those little fucks a Columbine. Guns make pussies feel like men.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

not legally letting them bring guns to work didnt stop them from "going postal" either. its illegal for kids to bring guns to school, yet they do anyway.
i dont think carrying a weapon makes you more likely to snap and start killing people. and those that do snap will have no problem getting a weapon, legal or not.
the real issue is whether it should be legal to carry guns to work at all (which is already legal in a few states). i dont see any particular reason why schools should be singled out. the only place i would be for outright banning weapons are bars and nightclubs.
alcohol+guns= bad.0 -

What about the people who do snap and in the heat of the moment, shoot someone? Like when you hear about someone getting cut off in traffic and then they pull their legal gun out of their glove box and shoot someone. Or the guy who walks in on his wife cheating, grabs his gun and kills them. Do you really people in those situations woudn't benefit from not having instant access to a gun (I would imagine that people in those type of situations if they had like 10 minutes to cool off they probably wouldn't shoot anyone). A teacher has to deal with situations where he might snap every day. If he has to go home before he can get his gun, he will probably be less likely to shoot someone then if it is right in his drawer.0 -
eh i guess its slightly more likely kids can get their hands on their guns, but to be honest i dont see it being very likely that a teacher with a gun will help or hurt, so i have a hard time really caring about this.0

People don't follow rules.
So why not prepare for that eventuality? Why leave our most vulnerable completely defenseless? Why not arm properly trained staff to defend against this kind of thing?0 -

Why not give everyone a bulletproof vest or backpack. Oh, I know... because all of it is ridiculous. You are not going to fix the problem with guns.
Kids are not morons. Well, they are... but they're not stupid... Well, they are... but they notice things. A kid that wants to kill will know who is carrying a weapon and who is not. They'll know where the security guard is and they'll plan their attack accordingly.
Unless armed teachers and security are going to monitor these kids non-stop, this whole idea will not work.THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!
