is obama against or for gay marriage???

if the role of president is mostly symbolic:
it shouldn't matter who i vote for
it shouldn't matter if that 'symbolic' figure is black, yellow, red, plaid....
if he's 'mostly symbolic' how can there be much difference between candidates? how can he be 'better for the country'?

i didn't say he was the exact same, i said on many of the issues, especially key ones for me, he is very similar.

Obama doesn't pander to those homophobic Americans that feel that gay marriage will ruin the fabric of society. Once a majority votes him in, it will be a great message to folks that its okay to be gay..and more than half of the population understands its not a choice....so its a big deal. Realize Obama doesn't "currently" support full marriage rights but he doesn't support downright discrimination that McCain will use to drum up votes.

The biggest outcome will be supreme court nominees.....we don't need another Roberts.

Yes....will things change dramatically..no....but sure better to move in the right direction..and will steal a quote from another post.....maybe from Victory Gin (cool name) but better to go in the right direction with "baby steps" than to just say "oh it doesn't matter...I'm not gonna vote"

    Obama's our best choice..period.

No, but it sounds good, and if we fool enough people into voting for me, because it is the PC thing to do, then I get a big prize at the end. - Obama

He Quits His Church After Yet Another Controversy.

Was he pressured to do this and even if he wasn't which church does he choose to attend if ANY?

    Awesome.
First he defends it, now he quits it because of 'controversy'.
