wait a minute...isn't straight marriage in America about owning women as property? Yes this is rhetorical since i am getting married begrudgingly - not that I don't love my fiancee but the whole rules of it.
for me it's about connecting with someone on various levels like you've not connected with anyone else before, and it's about loyalty to each other and to your relationship. my relationship with my partner is to the point where I don't know where I end and he begins. which can be scary, realizing you can feel so deeply for someone who isn't related to you except by and love .... it's a choice by two people to join together as one. call me crazy, call me old fashioned, i dunno, but i, for one, cannot wait to share his name as well. i will be so proud.

all the best with your wedding! :)

I love it. we should just get over it huh. would you say that if you lost your brother or father? why should we stop trying to punish those responsible? why?

Holding a grudge is not really a good way to live life. So yes you should just get over it.

so if a guy comes up to you and punches you in the face once a week for a month or rapes yr child once a month, every month for a year and you knew about it

    1- you wouldn't defend yourself

    2- you would move on

it's not that easy to just 'get over it', but eventually you have to accept it, as much as you hate it, especially if it's something out of your control, because otherwise you just end up dead inside.

Ok...if you insist...The aftereffects of 9/11 were far more damaging to our world than the actual blowing up of the buildings, and it was done for a far better reason (not that I agree with the way it was acted out per se) than anything our government has done since. Those attacks were attempts by the relatively voiceless in this world, those that have been taken advantage of by the west for years to symbolically destroy the system that which has served to oppress them over the last 70 or so years. Unfortuanately, now the US government has an excuse to go and blow them up even more, remove human rights from those in their own country, and consistently point back to "9/11" as a case study for why we need to remove rights. It's absolutely pathetic where the US has gone since that day.

In regards to 9/11 you are not defending yourself it's already happened. you are seeking retribution and loads more innocent people have died because of it.

I have a friend whose best friend died in the 7/7 bombings i don't see them going on about chasing terrorists, they have got on with there life.

Are you kidding? It's all about 9/11. 9/11 is everything...it's the reason everything is the way it is right now.

From the political perspective, It's like it happened yesterday.

the original article compared 9/11 to the ira attacks in england, not the war in iraq. are you capable of shutting off your michael moore-drenched brain for long enough to discuss that topic? you're as bad about bush/iraq as they are about 9/11/iraq.

....sure, two 110 story office towers falling to the ground with thousands of people in them "isnt that bad"...

Ok, 5 people died and 34 were injured in the IRA attacks, but a couple office building collapsing, eh...not that bat

First Gore and now this prize. Can we Castro a Nobel prize next?

Iraq is equal to somewher more than 200 times as many dead - and indeterminable multiplier in damage to buildings.

    perspetive is interesting

that's because the suckeyes play in the suck 10 a conference where they can't count and 11 suck teams play against each other to see who sucks less. The crap of it is that because they were at one time the best teams in the country they get a better representation in the rankings over teams from the other conferences out there that are better than them...specifically the Big East which has probably 2 teams that would defeat OSU (South Florida and West Virginia) and 1 that would give them a run for their money (Rutgers), and 1 (Louisville) that would roll up about 40 points on them in a loss.

I hope you wouldn't have killed 3000 civiliansw with airplanes. Yeah, America is far from perfect. But you need to stop laying the blame on America only. These terrorists want to enforce government regimes that are far more extremist than our craziest neocons would be. The terrorists just don't have the resources. They are far from victims. Hell, we even supported Bin Laden for a while, but yeah, he is a victim of us?
ok, fair enough, then i will blame capitalism and all the devastation it has wreaked on our world...the US just happens to have taken advantage of it better than most other countries.

Not really the point though is it? I hate these body bag competitions.

not body bag competitions at all! not even really a comparison...what i AM comparing is REACTIONS

-a little over 6 9/11's happen ever year just from ppl not having health insurance. our reaction?? allow the 'health care' industry to run all but unchecked and create a 'health care' system where health related bills are the number 1 cause for bankruptcy saying there's just no money to fix it and not the governments job.

-multiple 9/11's happen ever year from ppl smoking. our reatcion? we let it continue saying ppl should be free to kill themselves and those around them yet lock ppl up for smoking pot or other drugs...?

-9/11 happens and our reaction?? we bomb the shit out of 2 countrys that weren't even involved and kill multiple millions of innocent ppl while looting our treasury to give to friends, investors (in the administration), and war profiteers while we give our own troops as little as we possibly can get away w/ saying there's no money to give them better equipment while we give million dollar bonuses to war profiteers who committed fraud and other things against us and all but stole our tax money.

the bottom line is we will ALWAYS find money for war and new ways to kill people, but when it comes to any form of social spending like health care we just can't have it.

war is not the way, it probably never is the way and yet....it seems hardwired into our mindsets. it's a shame is all i'm saying. such a waste....

If I was from Iraq or from the Middle east...probably Bagdad.

I spent several hours with a guy from Bagdad....he spoke very little english...he absolutely loved his city....said he couldn't wait to leave the US and go back.
