well this is a whole other issue with no easy solution. UN peacekeepers are basically useless and the only way to truly stop the genocide there would be to send in the american military. IMO
What is Russia doing in Georgia that is any different than what we did in Iraq. During the Cold War what did Russia do that was so different from us. While they may have used their military to overthrow countries and plant their own puppet government we used more covert means, ie Iran and South America, to do the same. Just look what we are doing now by setting missile and radar installations in Russia's back yard. Do you really think that the US would allow that to happen if suddenly Russia was doing the same in Mexico, Canada or the Caribbean? You can bet your ass that our government would never allow that to happen, but when we do it fuck what everyone else thinks we are the US and we do what we want. So if that is the approach we are going to take then we should forfeit the right to tell other's how to conduct their business."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -

I dont believe it would take much resources to stop genocide there. its my opinion our military would do just fine, even while being stretched this thin and having no draft.0 -

your entitled to your opinion but I dont think we should forfeit shit.0 -

I would rather us not forfeit it but because we have changed the manner in which we interact with the rest of the world. I would love nothing more than to see our country reach it's full potential, in my opinion we have fallen from grace and no one seems to want to pick us back up."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -

Compared to many places on this planet we are. In many places on the globe most of us would have carted off to some detention center by now for openly criticizing our government."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -

I have to disagree with you. We are free. Has our government tried to restrict some of our freedoms, yes, but in the overall sense we are a free people."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -

- Established government oppresses minority people
- other country decides to intervene
- oil is conveniently abundant in said country
but there are definitely important differences - for example, the fact that Russia has something to do with the people being oppressed in South Ossentia, while the U.S. had no legitimate excuse for an Iraqi invasion.0 -

As I said the government has definitely crossed the line many times but to say that we are nor free or that our freedom of speech has been persecuted is ridiculous. We are still a free people regardless of our governments actions. I can still openly protest my government with fear of reprisal. I can sit on this message board all day and do nothing but spew harsh critcisms about our government and still not suffer any reprocussions."When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads." - Ron Paul0 -

I was agreeing with you about us having freedom, which is why I said "although..."0 -
_outlaw wrote:why, so you can insult them or say something ridiculous about them? I know these people personally and I don't need to hear shit from you about it.
you keep your ignorant opinions, I couldn't care less.
dont get mad when I call out your bullshit. you claim to know several people who have been arrested for freedom of speech. how many? what were they charged with? where ? when?
I didnt think so0
