How do you ask someone about HIV?

i also read a very interesting article once about a conspiracy theorists suggesting that hiv's origins came when scientists would do studies on animals, particularly monkey's blood, to find a cure for tuberculosis, polio and other diseases. This isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.0 -

I haven't read about it in quite awhile, but the last I remember was that there is no conclusive medical evidence that HIV is what causes AIDS.

In other words, HIV hasn't been conclusively proven to be the sole cause of AIDS.

Wait a minute here. I'm not suggesting a conspiracy. I am suggesting that there are a lot of grey areas concerning HIV and AIDS that are fed to the public. HIV is not a death sentence. HIV is not AIDS. Most people assume they are one in the same. There is no medical evidence that shows that HIV is the sole cause of AIDS.
That's all I'm saying.

ask him if he's ever had sex with a chimpProgress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,

No harm done.
I read a lot about this back in the late '80's when the AIDS scare was in full force in America. A lot didn't add up, so I kind of left it at that. Obviously HIV can be a very serious virus...but it isn't always. Also, in definitive terms, all forms of cancer fit the AIDS profile to a tee. So I wonder about the statistics. Is there a blurred line in there somewhere? Cancer is a failure of the immune system, and most Americans don't know that.

Most people think cancer is cancer and AIDS is AIDS. The thing is, they're one in the same.

Cancer is a failure of the immune system. Period. You can look that up anywhere. To call it an "aquired" immune defficiency is something of a leap, since HIV does not always cause cancer. So, basically we are told that HIV causes cancer, but since we now call cancer AIDS, it is always caused by HIV?
I don't have the links, but you have google.
Again, I'm not saying HIV cannot be a harmful virus. But I can see how a checkmark or two here or there on a final analyisis of a cancer dying patient might be misintrepeted as an AIDS death. And the public perception is that HIV is the cause of AIDS.

All cancer is AIDS.
I guess that's what I'm trying to say.

There are a lot (hundreds of thousands) of people who have or carry HIV and never get AIDS. I remember reading an article quite some time ago, that stated human beings have been carrying HIV for thousands of years.
And many through out history have died from AIDS-like conditions, or should I say conditions that we know identify as being AIDS-related diseases or syndroms.
The article also said a lot of us humans carry HIV from the day we are born, till the day we die. Which in many cases is 60-90 years and never contract AIDS.
The article suggested that HIV alone is really harmless, but when a person's immune system is weakened or compromised by toxics, other viruses, volitile bacteria or other environmental stresses; these other contributors/invaders to the human body, they believe, trigger a change in the HIV virus which causes it to attack the immune system/tissue.0 -

Thanks. I hadn't read all that, but it kind of fits what I was trying to say about the misperceptions of AIDS and HIV.

A question from The Motherland!
How about, "Since it looks like this will happen, how about we go get tested to confirm everything's cool like we are pretty sure that it is?"Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0 -

There was something else in the article, which at this time I can't recall with any amount of accuracy.
I have a vague concept of what it may be, but I'm not too sure it makes much sense. So don't hold me to this one, because my memory is vague on this one.
It was omething along the lines that, HIV reacts in a certain way when our bodies are weakened and attacked. That maybe the HIV virus actually senses a threat to itself, when specific intruders are present. Then tries to repair cells damaged by the invaders or help create healthy cells (something along those lines); but the cells it helps create or repair are actually flawed cells.....or malignant cells. Sensing that the cells are flawed, it continues to attempt to create more healthy cells (or repair them) which in turn creates more flawed cells or malignant cells........>Cancer/tumors.
Again, I may have this all wrong and this could be the result of a vague memory and over-active imagination......on my part.0 -

Like I said, I hadn't read about this in a long time. What I remember reading was that apparently HIV invades, and replicates it's DNA within our own. Or something like that. What I found out later is that cancer does essentially the same thing. The thing is, there is no "known" "cancer virus".

Superb question: After 3 AIDS ride for charity this is a crucial question to ask. To me the best way to go about asking this is to get tested first even if your a virgin then present your results to him when you ask. If he gets pissed off he wasn't meant for you.
