Quickies with Palin

freindlyfired wrote:1) Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest. AGREED OK...
2) She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. So what... many people supported him.
3) Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools. AGREED OK...
4) How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position. Where is this going?? So Im to beleive that they knew nothing about her?? The background check was extensive and intrusive. He may of not have known her but the people behind the GOP machinations did.
My point is all of that great info is already out there. There is no need for a very biased moveon group other than to combat the republican wing groups. They are both part of the problem with the main goal being to turn people against each other. Unsubscribe.
One question. You believe creationism should be taught in schools? Really??0 -
digster wrote:Someone supporting somebody like Pat Buchannan is a pretty big deal to alot of people, especially considering that many people in the country consider Buchannan a radical nutjob. Considering all the controversy swelling, and the fact that it seems like until the last moment McCain wanted Lieberman, it's quite possible she was not analyzed as specifically as most other veep candidates.
I just find it funny that apparently McCain was talked out of Lieberman, so he goes to the complete opposite end of the spectrum politically (at least in the range on the GOP) to Palin. That would sort of be like Obama wanting to go with Lieberman, and picking Kucinich instead... of course he would be a flip-flopper for that.My whole life

I find this hard to believe. Doesn't mean that it's not true, though. What is the source of this (besides moveon.org)?Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0 -
AS far as teaching Creationism in school...personally I think a religion course shoul dbe taught in every single school...a required course like Health & Math. It should deal with a number of religions and some of their basic beliefs ... all the big ones and a few lesser ones. Just like teaching about birth control in school...information is a good thing, let them talk abotu it in an open forum where they might feel more confortable.
All we would gain would be a better understand of those around us and probably some tolerance. But who needs that, huh?hippiemom = goodness0 -

Understood. McCain is 72 and has cancer. a 'world's religions' course is an excellent idea.....however, a religious idea taught in a science class is not. therein lies the difference imo.Stay with me...

Yes, and many private schools have such a thing. I think it should be an elective course, but fine.
It's a LONG jump from your proposal to creationism in school. Creationism is not taught as religious belief, but taught as scientific fact.0 -

What are we even talking about here?
That means only the presidency, vice presidency, or cabinate or other appointed agents of the executive, right?
Intelligence services like the CIA report to the executive, and i guess the Justice Department is under the executive ... what else is there?
I'm pretty sure Obama hasn't any such experience.
Does Biden?
Am i way off the mark on the meaning here implied????
please review the discussion on page 1. this is what I have been arguing.ThrowUrArmsAroundMe wrote:She's managed and governed, something that Biden and Obama never have done. and no one has experience on the federal level. so the next thing you would look at is state governor. thats generally the closest to president you can get. Obama hasn't done anything at all.
not sure if you've been in a coma for the last 8 years, but we have had a governor as "president" for the last 8 years.
Hasn't worked out so well.
By your definition, Palin has more experience than your presidential candidate, Senator McSame. perhaps he should be backing her.

I am far from the left side but I don't know how anyone could be against controlled abortion IE Rape cases etc... and gay rights. Who the hell are we to tell a gay person that they can not get married? Its non of our business IMO.Get em a Body Bag Yeeeeeaaaaa!

You're not as far from the left side as you think you are.All I know is that to see, and not to speak, would be the great betrayal.

She probably would agree with me that the poverty line as defined by our government (considered impoverished) should be higher than $19200 for a family of four. Ok next....0 -

its funny that the sumarian /iraqi concept of creation as explained in their book enuma elish (from where the biblical concept of 6 day creation is plagiarized), is getting taught in american schools - the same america which flattened iraq in the last few years.I have faced it, A life wasted...

This title is offensive. Overall, it is disgraceful how some liberals are attacking her and questioning alternatively her capacity to lead and her parenting skills.
And I am saying this as a liberal woman.
Ugh.... and the will to show I will always be better than before.0
