I've given Sheehan quite a bit of crap over the last year or so, but I have to admit, this is a great move on her part…and I support her on it.

    Gutsy. I like it.

it seems like ppl who gave her crap did it b/c it was supposedly aimed towards a certain party...now that she's criticizing the other side they like it?

not talking about you personally but ppl a lot of ppl boiled it all down to being partisan when it was clearly being against the war all along and nothing more

well, so much for going home and just being herself.

personally, i'd absolutely love to see her run and win. let's see if she can back up what she says she'll do.

good for her... she annoys me and I don't necessarily agree with a lot of what she says, but good for her... She has tried to accomplish what she could (which turned out to be very little) so she is trying to take it to the next level and run for office.

funny how some americans trash a woman for exercising her right to freedom of speech and dissent.

"let's spread freedom with bombs, but ridicule and slander anyone that disagree's with our views"

she is more of an "american" (whatever that means) than most of you folks bashing her. she lost a child, she can have the floor as long as she wants as far as i am concerned

she has actually sacrificed in this war, so have some respect, whether you agree or disagree

I agree. I don't think it's fair to call someone a puppet for simply choosing a different path than your own and aligning herself with people she chose to work with. It's highly condescending to say she was just not smart enough to see she is being used or know what's really going on. How do you know that? How do you know that this isn't the way she chose to express herself? Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean she and others are going to share your perspective.

how do i know cause i watched the news everyday and saw she was there by herself, then i saw all these people like moore and other far left people down there with her and then i saw her blogging on moores website.i do agree with her, i just dont agree with the people she aligned herself with, once she did that, she lost people in america. she could of been a real crusder(sp) against this war, but she didnt.why not quote me abook instead of taking cheap shots at me, huh

Perhaps because Cindy's out there making waves and doing something about what she feels is wrong? She gets press because she goes out and gets people's attention. Good for her!

So because she chose to work with Moore or whoever she doesn't deserve respect? Why? Did you ever think those lefties heard her message agreed and wanted to help? Why is that a bad thing? She was and is a real crusader against the war? How can you say she's not?

And metsy, I'm not taking cheap shots at you, dear. Many here share your view so I didn't feel the need to single you out.

i don't recall saying she shouldn't live. in fact; all i said was that i'm amazed at the people that follow her. that falls under opinion and last i've checked; i'm still entitled to an opinion. i'm also amazed at the people that follow people like jim jones and the branch dividians and the countless other cults.
the fact remains that this is a common housewife mad about her son dying. so she took up a cause. if he had chosen to be a policeman and was shot during that job; her mission would have been banning guns. IMO. but what if he chose to be a fireman and died in a fire? people pick dangerous occupations. i raise the most dangerous animal in north america. people become cops; a job where people shoot at you. her son chose to become a sholdier and knew the risks of the job. my son leaves for iraq in 3 months and i accept that he may die there. if he does i won't do a bunch of one sided research and claim to be the best person to rule the most powerful country in the world. nor would i claim to have all the answers about ending the war; etc. she's just another fanatic in my book and she can live and be happy. let the sheep follow her where ever she roams. but when you hook your wagon to a fanatic; you become labeled a fanatic.
nobody is FOR the war. we can unite and say we want an end to it. but we also have to consider the future and how our withdrawal will effect the world. thus the need for a plan that leaves a troubled and formally oppressed nation with the freedoms we all enjoy and an economy that leaves them self supporting. we nuked japan and we're still helping them although they are one of the worlds top economies. america has always helped rebuild nations we've had to fight in. most we were asked to help and the others we were invaded. so america will not walk away from iraq until it is rebuilt and active in the world economy. with it's resources iraq can be a thriving economy in the world market and if the money is distributed in a democracy and not put in one mans pocket; the future of iraq is bright.
the heartless thing to do is pull out and let the factions kill eachother. we could then walk in and claim it for ourself.

I'm not addressing your opinion and right to have it. I'm addressing how you view people who disagree with you opinion in this case. I recall you not particularly caring for the way some have chose to conduct themselves in the religion threads...and here you are doing the same. Everyone has opinions and a right to express them...no need to state the obvious. I was just pointing out the irony.

And if she wants to run for office... good. I know that there have been some real shitheads that have ran and won public seats... the worst that could happen is she is as bad as them.

I don't share you view that the whole country gave up on her. ON myspace alone and here, I see lots of support for her.

Also, how could she have ended the war by herself? And I thought she was out there crusading about ending the war?
