One: Oprah never backed or endorsed Hillary first. Oprah brought Obama onto her show after she read his second book, "The Audacity of Hope". At the time that she introduced Obama on her show, she said she hoped he would run for president someday, because he made a lot of sense to her. Apparently, he still does.
Two: Oprah's appearances this weekend with Barack Obama, in Iowa twice Saturday, followed by South Carolina and New Hampshire on Sunday, were witnessed by people who were given tickets through Obama's campaign. The thousands of people who sat in the stands had to give out their names and phone numbers in order to be there. That means that his campaign has at least 20,000-40,000 new people to contact. The Obama campaign has since started contacting all these people and asking them to vote for/caucus for Obama. This was a very valuable and smart move.
If you aren't keeping up with the polls lately, Obama is neck and neck with Hillary and Edwards in Iowa, and neck and neck with Hillary in South Carolina and New Hampshire.

Oh yeah, i forgot about all those ringing endorsements Oprah gave to Al Sharpton and Alan Keyes.
SHEESH!!
The key word is clueless, and that she is. She's a talk show host not a political or economical analyst. I'll trust the full time professionals in those realms over Oprah on this one any day...

No. As a matter of fact i don't think its a fucking "perk". What if i said i thought the only problem you had with Barack was the fact that he was Black. What if i thought that the only problem you had with Oprah is that she is an extremely wealthy Black American? Would i be out of line? i certainly hope so. Persoanally, i don't care who Oprah endorses. My personal endorsement of Barack Obama has absolutely nothing to do with Oprah. Nor does it have to do with any other "expert". i personally like to *gasp* make up my own mind. Point is your coments about Oprah endorisng Obama because he is a Black candidate are, simply put, fucking ridiculous. Why was Blackness not a "perk" for Al Sharpton? Why was it not a "perk" for Alan Keyes? i didn't see Oprah rallying behind either of those candidates. If anyone is naive...

Please. Oprah is a business woman, neither Sharpton nor Keyes have ever been serious candidates for anything. For her to endorse someone like them would be to make herself a fool. Obama is credible and has as good a chance as any. If you really think colour has nothing to do with the matter, well that's quaint. Don't try to tell me that Oprah wouldn't really love to help elect the first black president. And yeah maybe she genuinely likes him as a person and all that but if nothing else, that door opened because of his colour.

Why does Oprah choose to eat what she eats for lunch on any given day?...who the fuck knows. Why does Oprah give two shits about politics and Barack Obama all the sudden.. I'd guess the war for starters.
What I do know is that it's human nature for people to promote other people that have similarities to themselves. Race is a rather striking similarity at a very root level....unless you want to spite the laws of human nature for sake of trying to be right about something.

Dare I ask what you do for a living Roland? With the way you shove Ron Paul down everyones throats here, you too should be a "political or economical analyst" before we listen to anything you say.
You think we're all so naive to the political process because we support a mainstream candidate, but maybe you're the one who is naive in thinking that any upper tier candidate is "just in it to help their buddies" like I've seen you post dozens of times...yet you have no clear case on Obama. Would you with Bush and the no bid contracts for Halliburton? Yes. You have nothing to back up your claims though.

This aint the Oprah show, and I'm not Eddie Vedder either if you know what I mean.
Don't listen if you don't want, but Hollywood is not exactly the answer to America's problems and politics to put it lightly. When I see a messed up situation, I call it. Look up how the economy works for yourself. With what's going on lately, you would be wise to, and it's not rocket science. Look up the Federal reserve also sometime to see what they do for you. Check out who owns the media and what the CFR does for shaping your thoughts and reality after that (and the members therein).
Then step back and say wtf!?! like a lot of other people in the know are.

im gonna guess there are at least a million people in the U.S.A who would vote for this guy because Oprah told them to....
well i bet there were a ton of people in Florida who voted for Nader because Mr. Vedder told them to......
and Mr. Bush has been giggling and laughing ever since....
Florida and elsewhere. Thats kinda my point. Many of these are the same ones here bitching about Oprah Winfrey voicing support for Obama because of her potential influence on certain voters. Hmmm...
Besides, i still question the millions. Generally, the celebrity endorsement means very little. Remember the VFC tour (i do. The Fox Theater in St. Louis was absolutey breathtaking), now that really worked! There was some pretty influential artists taking part in that.
i realize Oprah is a unique kind of celebrity, but still think she is at best a neutralizer. Hilary is counting on the female vote and Oprah controls some influence over women. Millions of people voting based on Oprah's endorsement though? Doubtful. Hilary and her camp need to worry more about not putting her metaphorical foot in her big metaphorical mouth anymore, worry bout getting people to actually like and trust her, and stop bitching about who Obama has endorsing him.
"When all your friends and sedatives mean well but make it worse... better find yourself a place to level out."
how many millions of people will vote for this guy.....
because oprah fucking winfrey tells them to????
How many people will support a guy like Rudy based only on the fact that Pat Robertson gave him his support? I'm guessing way more than will vote for Obama because of Oprah.
This vid does noting to instill any amount of confidence in Grand ol Opry.
You're either right or wrong...what's with the "oh well...shucks" flip flop...doh! mentality at the very end?

I wonder about that. I think Robertson's most influential times are behind him. He really headed a powerful (unfortunately) movement in the 80's and kept it rolling in the 90's. But if he was as powerful as he used to be he'd be able to take someone like Brownback or Huckabee all the way. Now, he's looking for the most likely nominee, even if that nominee completely goes against many of his core values, and is hitching on to that campaign to make himself appear relevant.
