but it also says:
but U.S. policies determined the way in which Israel acquired the bomb. Israel developed the bomb opaquely, in a manner that avoided defying U.S. nonproliferation policies. A policy of ambiguity was born.
linked to the first sale of Phantom aircraft to Israel—Israel told the United States that, given its unique security needs, it could not sign the NPT at the present time. President Johnson ultimately approved the Phantom deal without linking it to Israeli concession on the NPT issue.
Less than one year later, in September 1969, Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir reached a secret agreement with President Richard Nixon on the Israeli nuclear issue. Meir explained to Nixon why Israel had been compelled to develop a nuclear capability, why it could not sign the NPT, but also stated that Israel would not become a declared nuclear power. That meant, operationally, that Israel would not test nuclear devices, would not declare itself a NWS, and would not use its nuclear status capability for diplomatic gains—but keeps its bomb "in the basement." While Israel would not join the NPT, it would not defy it either.
not only that but it starts off by saying:

the french may not be the biggest, but they do sell an awful lot of weapons around the world...
lots of things come to mind, none of them would be that he's his 'fearless leader'...of course it's the pot calling the kettle black, does is make it any less true? if there is something of substance you dispute then out w/ it. is he any less honest and credible than the majority of major politicians?
i read the articles. i posted it for your education because you were clueless about the french connection to nuclear proliferation....along wih your friends the russians.....personally i dont worry about a nuclear israel anymore than i worry about a nuclear france or a nuclear britain.
were just calling a spade a spade. criticism of our countries situation coming from the likes of putin is a bit of a joke...
I understand what you're saying. Being realistic, though, there is also the element of your own country's actions that stand on their own, and that your country will be held to account for.

isn't ironic that you are using the fact that they are a big arms dealer to discredit something about the world's BIGGEST arms dealer
never said we weren't. simply aritculating what Putins motives may be in stirring the pot. He wants to be the BIGGEST arms dealer..Do you think your bold letters make your points anymore credible?

Realistic? Again, your choice of words...
You know that the U.S. will NOT be held accountable for actions post-9/11.

wow, you sure do have a hard time staying focused, eh? my friends the russians? how does the french helping israel get nukes and our record of, what did your article call it? a 'policy of ambiguity'? have to do w/ the point? how is it an education when it says it is entirely based on a single book filled w/ unconfirmed information? you are so quick to say a source is not good enough or credible enough...and here you are using one that is admittingly based on unconfirmed sources....whatever
you are trying to avoid the topic, you do it all the time when you get in over your head. how does the french helping israel get nukes discount what he said? it doesn't, it's not even related.

Maybe you could explain to me how talking about your country's actions standing on their own is "taking a swipe at your country".
i didnt vote for fucking Bush so dont ask me. my country has over 250 million people. i dont appreciate generalizations. clearly, if your going to make general comments like my country this and my country that, you just dont understand us. now i dont think all canadians are kind of dopey molson guzzling hockey junkies just because some of them are...so why lump us all into one "us" category?

We are talking simple logic here. I refer to a very basic principle: either your country's actions stand as they are, including the accountability for them, or not. You seem to so desperately want to duck and weave that it looks like you're either consciously trying to use a smokescreen, or you are just unable to face some basics.

i would LOVE for you to clarify!
how did anyone make putin seem as their 'fearless leader'?
can you actually dispute what was said?
if putin isn't credible for being number 2 or 3 when we're #1...wouldn't that make us even less credible than him?
or can you not make the leap in your line of reasoning that:
if being an arms dealer makes him bad and we're an even bigger arms dealer, actually the biggest, doesn't this make us worse?
why did you tell angelica she was 'taking a swipe at your country' and when she asked you how you reply 'don't ask me!'??? whom should we ask? who else would know why you said something? do you just say things for no reason?

I regard Putin in pretty much the same light as Bush. Chechnya is Russia's equivalent of America's Iraq. Still, what he said about nuclear proliferation being encouraged by unilateral aggression in the face of international law can't be disputed.

I find it funny that a completely trashed country that has incited three times as many wars as America has can actually say that we are too aggressive with our foreign relations.
Anyways arms races are good for the economy....i think iran should have nukes, they wont use them, but it might help bring stability to the region.

Like someone said, it's the pot calling the kettle black but he's still right about the US.
I'd feel conflicted arguing that an arms race is good for a region.. even if it stimulates economies.

Like I've said before, the cold war never ended. This is nothing more than Russia standing up for their "little brother" Iran. Russia has deep ties with Iran, not to mention major anti-Jewish sentiment throughout their country, so it should come as no surprise that Putin makes these remarks now that the Iran vs. U.S. rhetoric has been heating up over the recent months.
I can't believe some of you here actually fall for Putin's bullshit...and sit here and talk like you think Putin is ACTUALLY concerned about the "nuclear arms race", or "fear" that the U.S. is supposedly instilling across the globe. Whatever...if you're looking at Putin as some kind of voice of truth or reason, one only needs to take a close look at how he runs his own country to see what type of leader he is. If you can't see through his fake concern for the rest of the world, and this speech for what it is...political bullshit...then I don't know what to tell you.
Putin and Russia are to Iran, Syria and Egypt...what most of you think the U.S. is to Israel. For some reason though...Putin has it right according to some of you...
Of course some of you will just say that at least Putin doesn't go around "invading" countries like Iraq...but we've seen what they do to their own people who try to break away and form a sovereign government...and we all also know who they supply with weapons, money and intelligence. The very terrorists who are blowing up our troops on a daily basis.
Make no mistake, we're at war with Russia in Iraq as much as we're at war with Iran.
I agree with you, for the most part. Even though what Putin said does have a grain of truth to it, he is far from a model leader. I've said from the first verbal spars between Iran and the US started that this was not just the US vs. Iran. Russia and China have a lot of money and interests tied to Iran and I'm sure they will not sit by and let us invade/attack/levee sanctions against Iran.

Russia is the world's primary nuclear proliferator. They gave birth to the Chineese Nuclear Program. The Chineese transfered their program to Pakistan, who then transfered their technology to North Korea and were caught trying to export it to Libya. Today, Russia is currently profiting from the Iranian program and was primarily responsible for building their Nuclear facilities. Conversely, the United States has not directly built anyone's Nuclear Programs. Israel got its reactor from France and so did Iraq. So Putin out to shut the hell up. Its a smokescreen. He's just fanning the Cold War flames to get more third world psychos to buy more Russian weapons.

Like I said there was a grain of truth to what he said. Not saying he was completely on the money. I think US foreign policy has, at times, played a negative role in world events. Obviously Russia is the 3rd worlds nuclear pimp, that is why I stated that Putin should be the one to talk. What this little exchange does show is that dealing with Iran will not be so easy because of their association with Russia and China.

No argument. But he has some balls blaming us for the cause of nuclear proliferation. It seems the intimation is "The US is scary, so buy Russian nukes to protect yourself....."

That probabaly is his motive. Didn't Russia just provide Iran with new surface to air missle defense system. Putin is the worst thing to happen to Russia since Chernobyl.
