All you right wingers are hating already. Why don't you give him at least 100 days? Why start off with negative hate already?
Obviously the 8 years hasn't worked. I understand the hate during the campaign. But the election is now over. The country decided to go in a new direction. Why not wait to see what happens?
If things get worse, continue hating but Obama isn't even in office yet and so many of you are doom and gloom predictors.
Take a deep breath, chill out and see what happens. You don't know the future so relax and let it happen.
I don't know. After he's sworn in people will say "He just got sworn in!" Then a year later "It's only been a year! give him a break!" then mid term "what you think he can fix 8 years of bush in such short time!" Then comes to the end of his presidency and it's 2012 and then we get the kicker "We must vote for Obama again, he's better than the other guy!"
The truth is, you shouldve all been demanding more from him when he first announced he was running for the top job. Not fall in line chanting "change"
We have no choice now but to give him a try, thats why we are going after him hard now. btw i'm not a 'right winger'

It's pretty hard to debate with you on comments like this. What you have said there is your opinion only. You can't see into the future and neither can i. Why would we say those things anyway, because unlike you, i am expecting, (not hoping), expecting, that he will do everything possible to deliver his campaign promises.
All i can say to you, is that you are completely mistaken if you think that i will not be holding obama accountable for election promises that he does not deliver.
Say i'm wrong, and i'm placing faith and trust in someone that doesn't deserve it, and he continues with Bush doctrine, the conversation in 4 years will be much different. I won't be fooled twice now will i. Clearly i'm hoping this will not be the case.
Sorry if that doesn't suit the illusions in your head as to what i, as an obama supporter will be doing or saying.

You are a special exception I believe, and much smarter than say the average Obama supporter we see on tv and please excuse yourself from my comment as it obvioulsy does not include you.
I also trust that Obama will try hard to keep his promises. But thats not all a good thing, not in regard to certain issues.

There hasn't been much holding of Obama accountable from the left, I think it's a little naive to assume that it's gonna start happening anytime soon...
I don't know if that's 100 percent true. There were a lot of lefties who were fired up about issues like healthcare and the war and they focused their energy on getting Obama elected. If he's slow to move on those issues, those same fired up people will begin to turn on him. Things are at a point now where just getting a guy into office will not satisfy people. They'll want action to back up their belief in the candidate.
"Almost all those politicians took money from Enron, and there they are holding hearings. That's like O.J. Simpson getting in the Rae Carruth jury pool." -- Charles Barkley

I'd like to believe that, but I'm pretty sure if things work out for the better he's gonna get the credit, which is good and just. And if they don't, congress will get the blame, and get re-elected just like every other election. Unless he's Reagan-esque (and that's a laugh to me), I don't see it.
There's gonna be a real conservative on the GOP ticket in four years, and I don't see any Obamite voting for a true conservative, no matter how bad he might F up.
Pardon my pessimism, I do pledge to be right there praising the guy if he does good. Hopefully his upcoming cabinet appointments will give me cause for optimism.
Why? Bush didn't attempt to become more centrist. Just deal with the fact that an overwhelming majority of Americans voted for a 'liberal'.
Regarding the generalisations about the southern states. It has value. Of course people aren't talking in absolutes -sure there are plenty of informed people there-its just there are fuck loads more ignorant assholes there as well. Whether you want to look a social attitudes, human rights or understanding of global issues those regions have always been the most resistant and problematic throughout American History.
I am rather aware that Bush went to the faaaaaaar right. Do you think we will heal things swinging back to the far left. If you are identifying me as a hard core right winger you would be suprised. Didn't I say that I EXPECT him to move to the center? I think I also was critical of the Foxxite bashing which is already going on?
BTW your spelling of "generalisations" suggests you have been educated or spent time in the UK,or Oz. I suppose I should not have identified that either being an ignorant beer guzzling klan member. So.... it is enlightned to make sterotypes of groups of people based upon geography..and particularly if data suggests the sterotypes are accurate. Also, I note in your vernacular the use of "informed"-with the connotation of those who are acceptable to you( inferring those who hold the same views)...so then anyone who holds any differnt views is what? uniformed, underinformed, misinformed? Clearly, when a racist, or intolerant view is spoken it is then fair to associate it with a southerner.
Or perhaps it is clear that there are "some good southerners" ...hmmm that sounds like a racist saying there are "some good blacks" . So, if my views are similar to yours, then am I " a credit to my geography "? You have only reinforced the bias I spoke of...can we say pompous? Your obvious education has failed to break you free of bias-and my 8 yr old daughter has accomplished more.
Actually, the President-elect has been making moves for quite some time. Like 12 years since Illinois. Again, so quick to give a pass.
I agree with the idea of holding every public official accountable, but I think its asking too much of us stupid Americans. Where were we when Bush 2 invaded Iraq? Where were we when Clinton bombed Sudan? Where were we when Bush 1 bombed Iraq? Where were we when Reagan moved 1 trillion US dollars into the private sector? And on...
Obama's term begins in 6 weeks. I will be the first to call him out....
I'd say this; if Obama moves away from his campaign proposals and attitude, and governs from the far left and more importantly in an extremely partisan attitude, then I wouldn't blame the GOP for being angry and what not. But if he follows through on what he's said and does make good faith efforts to reach out, and they reject it cause of whatever reason, then what the hell are they even in public service for? It would be hurting the country to help your political party.
I agree with this.
Given Obama's "to the left of McGovern" track record, I have my doubts he's magically going to become a centrist. But I'm willing to wait for him to piss me off, instead of getting pissed off in advance.
everybody wants the most they can possibly get

I'm curious about Obama's approach to "the war." And what "war" do we mean?
If we're talking about Iraq ... that's in the wrapping-up stages anyway.
If we're talking about Afghanistan/War on Terror ... best I can tell from the campaign, Obama is for ESCALATING that.
So it would seem to me the peaceniks that comprised the bulk of Obama's electorate are going to be disappointed.

Pretty sweet video that Roland put up here on another thread, kinda-but-not-really related to that point.
