Why is being french bad in the US?

I keep hearing people on this board and more so on FOX labelling people "french" as if it's a bad thing. That just seems like prejudice to me. I'm surprised it's tolerated and so wide spread.
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire

I have no clue what you're talking about.

Why do people hate Americans? Why are you offended or upset about American's disliking the french attitude, but seem to as far as I can tell have no problem with people across the globe disliking Americans. Our collective distaste for the french goes farther than their disinterest in helping in Iraq other than being interested in contracts after the fact.

    Who at FOX?

Everyone, just looking back at the 2004 election, they were trying to label John Kerry as french in order to degrade his image. Somehow they got a guy with a french accent to go on Fox and say that being french in American politics is bad. His reason: French people think too much and don't act on their thoughts.

    "the french attitude"

Isn't that like saying "the black attitude" or "the chinese attitude" isn't that a broad generalization, in this case of anyone who is french?

You ignored the part (conveniently) when I asked why you seem okay with people hating Americans just for being American.

I didn't say that, now you are ignoring my question.

You are just muddying up the discussion with horseshit to divert the real issue.

Alan Colmes believes this? Kondracke too? Liasson? Are you sure you everyone said this on FOX?

Somehow they got a guy? Do you even watch Countdown? Have you ever seen anyone challenge Keith Olbermann?

Glenn Beck is on CNN. You probably don't agree with anything he's ever said.

What's with the obsession of FOX?

Iraq was a mistake, fastforward to the present.

Now you are holding animosity towards the people of france because their government didn't make the same fucking mistake your's did?

Alright. I'll be the mediator. Why do you worry about how Americans percieve the French while caring not about how the international community insults Americans?

It's hardly an obsession, it's called a concern. What affects me even more directly and what also concerns me is the people on this forum and their attitude towards citizens of france. See Last Exodus' post.

    That's a different thread isn't it?

And I do care, but your too fucking thick to see that.

Actually, I answered it to a degree, and you still haven't answered mine. I'm not "muddying it up", I'm relating your topic to another brand of "nation hating". If someone doesn't give you the exact answer you want to hear, you get your panties in a bunch.

Why is it okay for people to hate Americans, based solely upon being Americans, but you take issue with America's general distaste for the french?

I find French people to be rude, arrogant, and tasteless. One big reason many Americans dislike them is the way they treat Americans who visit there.

But they do make a good vodka. Only good thing in france is the deserts, and Grey Goose.

    Well, I do work out.

If you care so much about international malcontent towards Americans, then talk about it. Maybe one thread about it would go a long way towards leading anyone to believe you are the least bit concerned.

  • Most American can distinguish between dislike of another country's governments and dislike of their people. I don't know anyone who dislikes French people for being French. I do know alot of people who disgust France's dupilictious politics. Having been to France more than once, I can say the vast majority of French are wonderful. Now the Parisians...thats another story. Not even the rest of France likes them much

lol You're concerned about it? What's about to happen in your opinion? Is there an apocolyptic ending in relation to some the ramblings over at FOX? Do I need milk and bread?

Lokok Ahnimus. Id be willing to bet you've not spent much time in Europe.. Am I right? Here is what you are missing. They have this whole EU thing going on over there right now. And there's a bit of a power struggle. France and Germany are trying to make themselves the center of the EU universe, Britain is trying to do the same, Russia is trying to just get into the circles.

What pisses me off about France is not that they did not back us in Iraq. It's the why part. They stand behind this moral authority argument, but its transparently bullshit. The French are every bit as imperialist now as they have always been. The only problem is they don't have the power to exert their will. They are tweaking us NOT because they give two shits about what happens to Iraqis or young Americans who are dying, they are speaking up ONLY to increase their prestige in Europe and the developing world so that they can sell more Mirage Jets and French Nukes and all that other shit you accuse us of.

Furthermore, its not just us. Spend some time in Europe. They ALL hate the fuckign French.
