  • I wonder if someone can tell me what's the difference between this horrible crime which is called a shooting, a crime, or whatever, and a terrorist act?

From my understanding of it,terrorism is politically motivated. This nutjob didn't have any political motivations as far as I know.

good point, politics could be the difference, but the results are the same, motivations are the same (killing and terrorize, plus suicide).

So the difference would be that a terrorist attack is against a government or a nation, while this crime is just seen as an isolated crime commited by a criminal against innocents civillians, but the line is pretty thin between both, and the results are the same, cause i don't think a terrorist attack would do anything different (than this crime, or the 1989 massacre) to this city.

There's an amazing article in La Presse, with the mother of the killer. They are immigrant, arrived here about 20 years ago, they lived a normal life, father was once a teacher in Toronto, mother worked in a store. He tried the military at 18 years old, quit the rookie training. His parents knew about the guns, but since it was all legal, with the paperworks etc., that wasn't such a problem to them, he had suscription to some shooting range, and all was legal. He did received depression treatments some years ago, after his mom was diagnosed with a breast cancer. Lately, he was definitly more depressed since Christmas she said, but that's not really a hint of someone about to go nuts. She didn't knew anything about the website, the pictures, or about his son anger towards humans in general, that was the shock for her. If he wasn't dead, she'd ask for prison for life for his son, she's deeply sadened and sorry for the families involved, and have no words to explain all that happened.
