Really great to see Obama move to the center and reflect the overall values of this nation...
By selecting a lefter-than-left Chief of Staff.

I'd like to be optimistic, I really would...

I don't think shows that there's no hope for a more politically diverse administration.

If I were him, I'd be choosing someone that match up along my views a bunch for Chief of Staff.

True, not necessarily a great indicator, but it IS his very first decision as President-elect. I have a hard time believing this was the best candidate.

Let's face it, he owes the DNC big time, and this decision looks a lot like he intends to pony up. Excuse the poor grammar.

Prytoj just relax. The man hasn't been president-elect for even 24 hours yet. I'm sure you'll see some centrist figures in the Obama government, and I think that would be a good idea.

Hey, I'll be the first to support the president-elect when I agree or when he does somethin' right, but also the first to point out where I disagree or when he screws up. I would have been the same way had the election gone the other way, I feel its OUR JOB. It's gonna be a long four years here in the pit, so let's get it on!

Yes, Emmanuel appears to be in line with our interests on the Middle East. You are correct there.

    Take a breath...

Chief of Staff has to be someone that you can trust first of all. Apparently Rahm is someone that he knows well.

As a member of the Ways and Means committee, he probably has good knowledge of exactly how things get done in congress, and with him chairing the DCCC during the '06 elections, he has probably built up some favors with those elected/re-elected then.

Since you are not getting it ....

You had fucktards like Joe the Plumber, campaigning for John McCain, agreeing to statements that a vote for Barack Obama was a vote for the "Death of Israel" ... fear fear fear ...

Yet, Obama's first appointee is a Jewish American.

I'm sure AIPAC is happy, Obama has the 'dearest friend of Israel' as Chief of staff.

    Good job Obama,

I got it just fine, where's the confusion there? I see his record, and I agreed with you there.

and fucktards is all class, thanks for clarifying. One more bomb from the left. can't wait for more of that.

    Good job Obama,

    he can't fucking win ...

some people feel he's suckling at AIPAC's teet ... some people feel he's the death of Israel ...

Man, I wish some of you people held George Bush this this immense scrutiny for the past 8 years.

Chief of staff means exactly that, the BOSS of the STAFF, in charge of hiring the STAFF. A hard-leftie helping to fill the cabinet positions...

His being jewish notwithstanding, he's way left of center, so how exactly are we to have optimism about the cabinet positions?

    You dont think I did?

The people who were saying Obama is the death of israel are stupid. So dont bring them up with me.

This choice Obama made is very poor. Obama claims to be fair in that situation yet he picks someone who is so pro israel, an AIPAC love kitten.

But please, let the excuses start.
  • Some people on this board are delusional. America is in a bad place right now. So I just don't really care about Palestine and Israel at the moment. When we have ourselves taken care of maybe we can begin to heal other nations.

If I had to rank in order of importance Israel Palestine relations are about 152nd on the list.

I'm not saying he saw you or anything. But I thought that was pretty funny.

nope, I don't think you did at all .. wasn't my intention to point at anyone in this thread ... but to just point out the insane standards Obama is being held to.

My opinion is that indeed, he DOES kowtow to AIPAC and supporters too much ... Israel has not been the model of democracy in the Middle East, not by a long shot.

To say nothing of the fact that he was an average guy suddenly thrust in the national spotlight. I was on record here condemning that inexcusable statement. It's fair to criticise, but he's a regular guy, time to let that one go. I'm sure we're all thankful Joe the Plumber isn't chief of staff. Can we move on now and get back on topic?

Unless we're comparing Emanuel with Joe the Plumber...

In January 2005, when asked by Meet the Press's Tim Russert whether he would have voted to authorize the war-'knowing that there are no weapons of mass destruction'-Emanuel answered yes. (He didn't take office until after the vote.) 'I still believe that getting rid of Saddam Hussein was the right thing to do, okay?' he added."

Not everything is about Israel, Mr. B. Seriously, that's the first thing that comes to mind regarding every topic?

Sure, but when you pick someone who is pro iraq war (The main issue that started the Obama run with him being against it) and Israel which is another top subject which I'm sure you will agree is a major reason for terrorism in many cases and American troubles in the world.n Or at the very least a factor with American policy.

How can we look at this and just say 'It's not an issue'. Dude, Should we let this choice slide?

I think People should worry at the way this is already going, on the first choice! Well second after Biden.

Is that not fair to say?
