Why so much hatred for Bill O'Reilly?

He is a pompous, self-righteous conservative. He's not as bad as people think he is. He says a lot of shit about religon that makes me want to vomit. But I can look past that and also agree with him when he talks about other issues.
I've seen Bill Mar put O'Reilly in his place, and it was great.
I saw Bill Mahr on his show and he totally confused me. First he knocked catholics for being what he called "cafeteria catholics' for only picking and choosing what part of the faith they wanted to follow. and then went on to knock the "extreme christians" for being, well, too extreme.
so you dont like people to nonchalantly practice faith nor have very very strong feelings for it. he didnt make much sense0 -

you know what hurts at-risk children? Crappy parents and shitty schools. not Music and not movies, because if they had decent parents they wouldn't be exposed to it. If they had better schools they could be better prepared for it if they were.
You just made O'Reilly's point for him. He's not blaming the movies for influencing kids as much as he is blaming the industry for taking advantage of the kids that as you point out don't have decent parents.
Just because there is a large group of American youth who have shitty parents, doesn't mean people should exploit them to make a buck. They should be trying to help them instead of peddling rotten shit to them for money.0 -

its the top rated NEWS show. grey's anatomy, thats funny. you thought it was ALL programs.
he didnt say anything bad about Michael J. that was rush.
even with the BEST parents, kids will still be exposed to all types of shit0 -

He has the top rated show in America, all us dummies americans is just stupids I guess. I dont always watch his show but I do read his articles and one of his books. He is defientely not as far right as Hannity or Colter. Why do people think he is sucks so bad?
And I don't JUST hate him and Hannity and other Fox types. I hated Chris Matthews and that dumbass Crossfire program too. Jon Stewart performed a great service for this nation by getting Crossfire kicked off the air -- if only he could clean up the rest of TV punditry. While we're censoring things, why don't we chuck all TV pundit shows -- including Olbermann -- and just watch the Lehrer NewsHour. Because I'm sure everyone here loves the Lehrer NewsHour.
As for censoring bad movies to protect children, I think that's touching. (Of course, I'm reminded of an excerpt from the audio version of his reading his steamy novel where he says "Put down that pipe, baby, and get my pipe up." Hilarious!! But keep it away from the kiddies.) I wish, though, that he'd worry about protecting the kids by making sure they all had health insurance and good public education . . . ."Things will just get better and better even though it

what news programs do you find acceptable?
and even the great Hope&Anger has dished out insults. it happens, dont act like your above all those you do it.0 -
Bill O. Reilly is one of my hero's. He's unafraid to speak the truth, and I love it when he tells people were to go. Sure he might be a little offensive (to lib's) but that's part of his charm. Its kinda like Michael More, but more truthfull.
O yea an i totally agree that librals only hate him cuz he works for Fox.I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I really don't hold myself to the same standards as TV pundits. Millions of people don't watch me and model their behavior by mine. But young people watch O'Reilly and the whole crew. And they've learned to call each other idiots when they disagree, to question each other's patriotism. Like Stephan Colbert, they trust their guts and spit on people with evidence, people who study policy, people who are willing to entertain both sides of an issue.
And none of this is making any of us any smarter."Things will just get better and better even though it

For the fact he is a hypocrite...all I need to think of is him buying off that woman because of his harrassing phone calls to her......100% fool......if someone wants to like a man like this good for you I could never bring myself to support a man who practices harrassment....0

I just find it interesting that bill once anchored a show which focuses on the very same thing he is currently slamming...entertainment...
I'd be willing to bet, if bill were still at IE, he would have done a few stories on Saw III, and rap music, and the like...that's all...
is that ok...?0 -

yea thats fine, I was just curious. i'm sure as time has gone by he was able to form different opinions based on his experience. you mentioned a few times thats why I ask0 -
'The O'Reilly Factor' is the Ying to the 'Daily Show's' Yang. They are opposite sides of the same coin. The difference being... the 'Daily Show' understands it is entertainment, the 'O'Reilly Factor' believes it is journalism.
Both are entertainment and only a fool would think otherwise. It is NOT journalism, it is Op/Ed XTREME... so the WWF crowd can say they are up on politics and stuff. You do NOT get indepth political realities from 2 minute snippets between 'Head-On' commercials. What you are getting is 'Politix Fer Dummies'... crib notes on the American political system. It is the same thing as watching E.R. and thinking you can operate on someone... or watching Matlock and thinking you can defend yourself in court.
Bill O'Reilly is Geraldo Rivera without the moustache... he is in it for the money and the only reason he gets rating is because people like to watch arguements and conflict... they like Jerry Springer, but don't want to admit it. The Factor is basically the Springer Show without all the in breeding.
you want to be up on political affairs? Watch C-Span, Meet The Press, Face The Nation, Frontline... pick up several newspapers... including those from other countries. Get all sides of an issue before forming an opinion... repeating someone else's opinions makes you nothing but a stupid parrot.
...
If popularity (i.e. ratings) is the meter to guage greatness... then, N'Sync must have been one of the Greatest Musical Talents of all time. I ain't buying that. If you are... that right there tells us who we are dealing with.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!
