actually O'Reilly presented it. I dont really think its as bad as O'Reilly says althought I think he is just looking out for the better. I saw "Saw III" last night and its very disgusting. kids under 13 should not see it.
That is why the movie is rated "R". I am getting so tired of people blaming every one else for what their kids watch, what games their kidsplay, and so on and so on. Its called parenting. Its nobody's responsibilty but the parents.
why do you think people copycat crimes? they get influenced.
one crime against humanity legitimately influenced by violent entertainment should reroute the influence in general.
they are making movies about terrorists. and people are going to buy it! you have got to be kidding me. you have to draw a hard line, and that is why i would agree that it is a problem for everyone.
So what's your solution to the problem? Ban all violent entertainment? (Believe me when I say I'm not using a hostile tone. Just wondering if you have suggestions.)
So what's your solution to the problem? Ban all violent entertainment? (Believe me when I say I'm not using a hostile tone. Just wondering if you have suggestions.)
im obviously not the guy for the job, but i would say there need to be stricter rules/guidelines/laws for keeping children censored to this stuff. i know it is almost impossible, and that is why id say fuck yeah, ban the shit.
that is a freedom id be willing to give up more than habeus corpus.
more people focused on something constructive instead of watching violent t.v. is good for everybody.
you're a real hooker. im gonna slap you in public.

I think to most of the liberals here the answer is obvious. you dont like him, solely becuase he works for Fox News. thats great. He has the top rated show in America, all us dummies americans is just stupids I guess. I dont always watch his show but I do read his articles and one of his books. He is defientely not as far right as Hannity or Colter. Why do people think he is sucks so bad?
here is his column from yesterday... While I dont really agree 100% with him, I can see where he is coming from. Looks like he is just trying to protect children from watching disgusting movies..........
On this Halloween, the No. 1 movie in the USA is "Saw III," a sadistic slasher flick designed solely so its audience can enjoy graphic depictions of human suffering.
Now I'm a libertarian when it comes to censorship, so I don't like it. I fully support freedom in the marketplace. You alone should decide what you want to consume. But I will say this, sadistic movies are bad for everyone. They are a disgraceful exhibition and the companies that finance them are harming individuals in the country.
There is nothing worthwhile about seeing graphic displays of unspeakable violence. And if you enjoy that, you might want to find out why to protect yourself and others.
Cannibalism, dismemberment and all the other garbage that is featured weekly in the multiplex is worse than gangster rap or dirty movies, far worse. Young children are buying tickets to see PG films and then sneaking into the sadism displays. Young adults are craving more and more barbaric images, all in the name of entertainment.
On the "Oprah" show, she told me that freedom means slasher flicks should be available and Oprah is correct. But freedom also means Americans have the right to condemn these movies and hold the companies who supply them accountable.
The turning point for ancient Rome arrived when the population turned from building their society to consuming whatever the government would give them, including sadistic displays of brutal death in the Coliseum.
In modern America, the culture is definitely on the decline. Just ask any public school teacher how kids behave these days, as opposed to even 10 years ago. Standards of behavior are collapsing everywhere and the media is leading the way.
Vile gangster rappers have hurt millions of at-risk children. And now we have a movie industry that can't make these sadistic films fast enough. Of course, they all hide behind freedom, but that rationalization is hollow. Those who push base entertainment are villains, no question. All of us need to wise up and jump into the culture war when the No. 1 movie in the country revels in close-upshot of limbs being sawed off, there is a problem.
Enough is enough with this dehumanizing trash. It is wrong, it is evil and it demeans America — period.
I agree with about 75% of everything he says. I don't think he is a partisan at all with respect to Democrats and Republicans. He is an ideological partisan. He is a pompous, self-righteous conservative. He's not as bad as people think he is. He says a lot of shit about religon that makes me want to vomit. But I can look past that and also agree with him when he talks about other issues.
I've seen Bill Mar put O'Reilly in his place, and it was great.
I meant to say WAY too many. Fingers moving too fast.
As for sonicreducer...it may be something you're willing to give up but not everyone. You can't get rid of something completely just because a person may do something that's irresponisble. You'd have to ban EVERYTHING. I'll agree that people watch too much t.v. play an instrument.
Also, the movie industry can't make these movies fast enough because they're whats making the money. If they didn't make so much money they'd stop making them. So is it hollywoods fault that they make movies that make use "demented" and "sadistic" or our "demented and sadistic" society that make hollywood create these movies? Supply and demand.

Also the Romas had physical contests to the Death for 100's of years before the fall of the Roman empire was brought on by Christianity. Not the Metion the Greeks, had far more violent and "sadistic" blood sports. Guess where 80% of you education came from... The Greeks, math Science, engineering are all greek.

he doesn't have the most highly rated show, That would be Grey Anatomy, i DOn't like him because he passes jusdgement on people he doen't know. THe thing with M. J. Fox, pissed me off, he isn't a fucking doctor and also dosn't have parkinsons.
you know what hurts at-risk children? Crappy parents and shitty schools. not Music and not movies, because if they had decent parents they wouldn't be exposed to it. If they had better schools they could be better prepared for it if they were.

I saw Bill Mahr on his show and he totally confused me. First he knocked catholics for being what he called "cafeteria catholics' for only picking and choosing what part of the faith they wanted to follow. and then went on to knock the "extreme christians" for being, well, too extreme.
so you dont like people to nonchalantly practice faith nor have very very strong feelings for it. he didnt make much sense

You just made O'Reilly's point for him. He's not blaming the movies for influencing kids as much as he is blaming the industry for taking advantage of the kids that as you point out don't have decent parents.
Just because there is a large group of American youth who have shitty parents, doesn't mean people should exploit them to make a buck. They should be trying to help them instead of peddling rotten shit to them for money.

he didnt say anything bad about Michael J. that was rush.
even with the BEST parents, kids will still be exposed to all types of shit

I don't like him because he and his type have debased political debate in this country. People seem to think that trading insults is debate. And that kind of forum -- with him spouting his opinion and insulting people who disagree with him -- just makes all of us stupid.
And I don't JUST hate him and Hannity and other Fox types. I hated Chris Matthews and that dumbass Crossfire program too. Jon Stewart performed a great service for this nation by getting Crossfire kicked off the air -- if only he could clean up the rest of TV punditry. While we're censoring things, why don't we chuck all TV pundit shows -- including Olbermann -- and just watch the Lehrer NewsHour. Because I'm sure everyone here loves the Lehrer NewsHour.
As for censoring bad movies to protect children, I think that's touching. (Of course, I'm reminded of an excerpt from the audio version of his reading his steamy novel where he says "Put down that pipe, baby, and get my pipe up." Hilarious!! But keep it away from the kiddies.) I wish, though, that he'd worry about protecting the kids by making sure they all had health insurance and good public education . . . .

what news programs do you find acceptable?
and even the great Hope&Anger has dished out insults. it happens, dont act like your above all those you do it.
Bill O. Reilly is one of my hero's. He's unafraid to speak the truth, and I love it when he tells people were to go. Sure he might be a little offensive (to lib's) but that's part of his charm. Its kinda like Michael More, but more truthfull.
O yea an i totally agree that librals only hate him cuz he works for Fox.
I’d thank my lucky stars,

I do dish out insults -- I do it here because I can't do it in my job where I really want to do it.
And I really don't hold myself to the same standards as TV pundits. Millions of people don't watch me and model their behavior by mine. But young people watch O'Reilly and the whole crew. And they've learned to call each other idiots when they disagree, to question each other's patriotism. Like Stephan Colbert, they trust their guts and spit on people with evidence, people who study policy, people who are willing to entertain both sides of an issue.
And none of this is making any of us any smarter.

For the fact he is a hypocrite...all I need to think of is him buying off that woman because of his harrassing phone calls to her......100% fool......if someone wants to like a man like this good for you I could never bring myself to support a man who practices harrassment....

I just find it interesting that bill once anchored a show which focuses on the very same thing he is currently slamming...entertainment...
I'd be willing to bet, if bill were still at IE, he would have done a few stories on Saw III, and rap music, and the like...that's all...
is that ok...?
yea thats fine, I was just curious. i'm sure as time has gone by he was able to form different opinions based on his experience. you mentioned a few times thats why I ask
'The O'Reilly Factor' is the Ying to the 'Daily Show's' Yang. They are opposite sides of the same coin. The difference being... the 'Daily Show' understands it is entertainment, the 'O'Reilly Factor' believes it is journalism.
Both are entertainment and only a fool would think otherwise. It is NOT journalism, it is Op/Ed XTREME... so the WWF crowd can say they are up on politics and stuff. You do NOT get indepth political realities from 2 minute snippets between 'Head-On' commercials. What you are getting is 'Politix Fer Dummies'... crib notes on the American political system. It is the same thing as watching E.R. and thinking you can operate on someone... or watching Matlock and thinking you can defend yourself in court.
Bill O'Reilly is Geraldo Rivera without the moustache... he is in it for the money and the only reason he gets rating is because people like to watch arguements and conflict... they like Jerry Springer, but don't want to admit it. The Factor is basically the Springer Show without all the in breeding.
you want to be up on political affairs? Watch C-Span, Meet The Press, Face The Nation, Frontline... pick up several newspapers... including those from other countries. Get all sides of an issue before forming an opinion... repeating someone else's opinions makes you nothing but a stupid parrot.

Reading other people's opinions before forming one of your own!!! Yay!!! Reading!!! Yay!!! Learning about an issue by devoting more than 5 minutes with flashy graphics and a scroll across the bottom of the screen to it. Yay!!! Maybe even picking up a book about the topic!!! Getting evidence!! Yay!!!
