The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe—the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.
Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God's work must truly be our own.

Yeah, democrats have had to pander to religion too, sadly. But comparing them to republicans is apples and rosaries.

rightly so. and you know why jfk said it? because people were crucifying him for being a catholic. it wasn't offered in support of christian government. hell, he was almost shut out of government because he wasn't the right kind of christian!
Obama supporters, please let me know if these are true or false.
Just Some of What Defines Barack Obama:
· He voted for partial birth abortion.
· Supports affirmative action in Colleges and Government (quotas)..
· Admitted his use of marijuana and cocaine in20high school and in college.
· His religious convictions are very murky.
· He is willing to meet with Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Kim Jung Il and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
· Has said that one of his first goals after being elected would be to have a conference with Muslim nations. Why?
· Opposed the Patriot Act.
· Voted to allow law suits against gun manufacturers.
· Supports universal health-care.
· Voted yes on providing habeas corpus for Guantanamo detainees.
· Supports extending welfare to illegal immigrants.
· Voted yes on compre hensive immigration reform.
· Wants to make the minimum wage a 'living wage'
· Is a big believer in the separation of church and state.
These are bad things?
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
I'm not American, but if I was I would probably WANT to vote for someone who has some of those views! The rest, I kinda don't care about.
What about Sarah Palin, who is a mother to an under age, teenage mother to be?
For the record, I did not make up the list. I could give two shits if Obama did drugs. I sure as hell used to and so did many many others who are in office.
(1)I do have a problem with giving Legal American privileges to Illegal Aliens. To hell with that shit.
(2)I don't think we should take out "Under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance.
And I think we should be able to put up a fucking Christmas tree in the town hall if we fucking want to. and if their is a Santa and a manger.....So the fuck what?
I think that giving an immigrant a drivers license is a good thing as it will give them more options to get a job (they can apply at further away places) so they can BECOME LEGAL.
I don't like the idea of giving welfare to someone who just arrived here..well unless they are a refugee and it was leave or die. I will never say I'd rather someone die then give some of my money to lend a hand.
BUT those coming over here looking for a better life but not in danger in their homeland...thats totally different. I feel they should have a job lined up and a little bit of money in their pockets...don't come here expecting US to support YOU.
Sadly though I think they can get welfare in my country. Not 100% sure though.
As far as war refugee immigrants are concern, usually they are sponsored by a Christian family or a church group from the city they're migratng into. They provided with housing assistance and welfare support within a certain timeframe but they also must attend local community services such as a church or alternative/adult English classes.
From my family's experience, this procedure lasted about 2-3 years and then we were on our own.
I can't speak about illegal immigrants but as far as legal immigrants are concern, this article provide the real truth about our impact in the U.S. economy and to native-born Americans. Also has some bits and pieces on education and crime rates. http://www.whitehouse.gov/cea/cea_immigration_062007.html
It's from the official White House's Web site.
Anybody who thinks partial birth abortion is okay and votes for it to be allowed needs to have the same thing happen to them. I'm not a violent person, but I think it's deserved.
When life gives you lemons, throw them at somebody.
you know, unless you or someone close to you has had to face the agonizing situation of dealing with severe birth defects, such as my friend whose baby was developing without a functioning brain or limbs, I think you need to back the hell off. You make it sound like people are enjoying it. It is a horrible situation, and the decisions that must be made decisions made are up to the family, not the government. Period. Not unlike Terri Shiavo. Have you heard the song Comatose? Yeah...
Number two: this country exists because we insisted on separation of church and state, which is the same thing as religious freedom (hello!), and core principles like habeas corpus. I cringe to think that people advocate abandonment of these fundamental principles that are at the very foundation of our country. I love our country. Religious freedom, personal freedom, and government accountability are big reasons why.

It's extremely rare and usually done for medical reasons (to protect the mother). It shouldn't even be an issue. What a LAME reason not to vote for someone.
The abortion of sucking out a child’s brain in the final trimester to kill him or her is rarely performed why not ban it…in your argument such a small portion would be affected...it also goes against a lot of pro-abortion arguments ...in addition, what/how is it used to protect the mother?
You know, continuously repeating the phrase about sucking out a child's brain just shows that you have fallen for all the sensationalism the pro-life movement wanted you to fall for. Try for a minute to see the whole issue.
First of all, most D&X procedures are performed in the 2nd trimester (when the fetus is NOT viable); they are not performed on viable fetuses in the 3rd trimester as you keep saying.
D&X abortions account for only 0.17% of abortion in the United States. But that's 2,200 women who would be affected by a ban. It doesn't make any sense to say if it's not common we may as well ban it. Those 2,200 women - who are going to have their abortions anyway - have a right to the best medical care their doctors can provide them.
Banning D&X procedures doesn't ban 2nd- and 3rd-trimester abortions anyway. They still do the abortions, they just now have to dismember the baby inside the uterus before removing it. So basically, if you think a vote against the Partial Birth Abortion Ban is a vote for halfway delivering babies and then sucking out their brains, you could just as easily say a vote for the Partial Birth Abortion Ban is a vote FOR chopping up babies inside the mother and then taking them out a few pieces at a time. The main difference is that the one you're voting for can cause damage to the woman's cervix, which could put her future pregnancies (AKA babies) at risk.
And another thing, if I have a strong opinion on something that you don't like makes me "lame" what does that make you....just because I have a heart and think everything is entitled to life no matter what you look down on me.
I choose McCain for many reasons over Obama and one in particular was his stance on human life. I would have more faith on a president to end a war who had these beliefs then a heartless fuck who thinks one is expendable.
Obama has a strong opinion on something that you don't like and that makes him a "heartless fuck"? What does that make you? Just because he is smart enough to see through the rhetoric of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban and is concerned about women's health, babies' suffering, and the integrity of the American medical system, you look down on him.
It's amazing how many supposedly patriotic Americans forget why our forefathers came to this land in the first place, so they wouldn't be forced to follow one state approved religion. That's why we are supposed to have a separation of church and state, so this country wouldn't end up like the one they left. The more religious zealots try to shove their beliefs down my throat, the more I hate that religion.
heh i was just getting ready to post this exact same thing. people tend to forget that. people came here to be free of religious persecution.
good post.
Why should i have to pay for someone else's stupidity.
Why should my tax dollars go towards someone not being responsible enough to police their own actions?
if you dont want to have a kid, be responsible for your actions. you wanna have fun, you gotta pay the price.
everyone knows that if you have sex, there is a damned good chance your gonna get pregnant. its kinda the whole idea behind having sex. well in theory anyways :-)
And universal healthcare? Worst idea ever. i work hard for my money, i have a job that gives me healthcare, as a matter of fact i have never had a job that didnt. even as a fricking cook at ponderosa in college.
and for the people that say they cant get jobs, more often than not it is people who dont want to work. my company is hiring, and we are having a helluva time finding people in an area with a high level of unemployment. and half the people we end up getting either quit or get fired cause they are too lazy to do the work. why should you work when you can live off the government teat? why should i go out and work goofy ass hours so other people can sit at home and do nothing. and i pay their bills and buy them food, and clothe them out of money i worked for. its bullshit.
when did we become a socialism?
and its not whether or not someone is going to win a civil suit against a gun maker, it is when everyone and their brother starts suing them and the legal fees bankrupt the gunmaker. i read somewhere that walmart doesnt even bother fighting lawsuits anymore because it is cheaper to settle out of court. thats sad. once the gunmakers go out of business, what is there to stop the government from ignoring once even more than they already do.
the 2nd amendment was put in to protect us from the government.
and i dont have a problem with out of wedlock births. considering being married is a religion based concept in the first place.
I keep reading the figure "most D&X procedures are performed in the 2nd trimester"...most, not all...but most...so with your handy figures such how many are performed in the 3rd trimester? Then you go into these women have a right to the best medical care doctors can provide them"...and once again the baby means nothing to you....then you go into chopping up of a human being inside of another human being................are you delusional?
And I am the person who is not smart enough to rhetoric??? You are crazy to think this is an OK thing. In any culture...religion...society stopping a heart beat is murder.
You know what that makes me…a good human for thinking all things are created equal and have a right to life. And you say I am not smart enough to see the rhetoric after you just threw a paragraph down on chopping up babies inside of a mothers womb… you can pretend and play rhetorical games all day and all night. That is what liberals do.
Taking a living breathing baby and leaving it on a shelf to die, is what Obama approves of. In fact, he was the only person to make a case against the practice being made illegal.
There is no broader view of that scb.
You support live children being to left die on a shelf. You don’t have the soul to be ashamed of yourself. All your blah blah blah blah-look within something some thing, blah blah blah, doesn’t change the facts.
You and Obama don’t give a crap about babies being left to die.
So Pepper, if a fetus is developing badly in the womb, and the doctors feel that it would be best to terminate- would you not trust your doctor to know what he is doing? Would life be better for that child with no brain functions, or limbs (as a previous person stated)...?
Obama saw the law- as it was written as a way to- some time in the future- stop abortions in general. A woman who is raped and she became pregnant- should have a choice to not have that pregnancy.
He is not about babies left to die- but about women having the right over their bodies.
Huh? Why would I be delusional for knowing what the alternative is to a "partial birth abortion"?
And regarding the whole "the baby means nothing to you" comment: Once again, you're not getting it. This is not a debate about whether these babies should or shouldn't be aborted. THEY ARE GOING TO BE ABORTED EITHER WAY. This debate/law is about WHICH METHOD is used to abort them.
And I am the person who is not smart enough to rhetoric??? You are crazy to think this is an OK thing. In any culture...religion...society stopping a heart beat is murder.
I don't get your comment about the rhetoric. Are you saying that me believing that the alternative to partial birth abortion is dismembering the fetus before removing it from the womb is the same as you falling for the sensationalism the Right to Life folks intentionally created when they made up the term "partial birth abortion"?
If so, the difference is that what I'm saying is not rhetoric. As a matter of fact, I have never heard any pro-choice group mention this and I doubt they ever will. I know this from my experience working in a hospital, not from reading it on the internet somewhere.
And once again with the murder comment: If it's abortion you're against, why don't you argue against abortion instead of talking about the horrors of this procedure specifically? This bill doesn't stop abortion.
You know what that makes me…a good human for thinking all things are created equal and have a right to life. And you say I am not smart enough to see the rhetoric after you just threw a paragraph down on chopping up babies inside of a mothers womb… you can pretend and play rhetorical games all day and all night. First of all, I have NEVER said you weren't "smart enough" for anything.
But now I think I'm starting to see the problem. You're talking about an entirely different bill than the one referrenced in this thread that everyone else is talking about. (Just goes to support my assertion that you don't know what you're talking about.)
Plus, "You don't have the soul to be ashamed of yourself" and "You and Obama don't give a crap about babies being left to die"? Bite me.
