ok tell me something. what is the population of kotka and what is the lifestyle like there? what do people do there? are they busy or content? how many hours of daylight do you get at different times of the year?

i live in a big city in a much different country to yours, tell me the basics of how you live in your town

    here's a website: http://www2.kotka.fi/english/

the population here is something over 500 000. so not that big in a worldly scale.
since ours is a city by the sea, it's much represented here, lifestyle is quite laid back.
what do people do..? hard to say actually since there isn't that much stuff to do for people my age and I really don't know what older/younger people do.
but there has been some improvements to what young people can do. at least attempted improvements. :)
I guess the ones who are old enough go to bars and such, party, have a good time.
in general in think the people are content. those who aren't.. well, it's easy to move out if you don't like the city.
the prises of houses and apartments are much lower than in for example Helsinki. and one of the few things that really suck here is healthcare (too little resources.) but that's a problem elsewhere too.

in wintertime we have about 6-7 hours of daylight.
more in the summertime when it's not pitch black dark even at nights.

hmm. you want to know more or is that good? :)

  • sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but team canada beat team finland 5-1 at the world junior tournament yesterday eMMI. that, and i heard mikka kipprusoff is not playing for finland's olympic team. mikka's one of the best, so that's a tough one for finland. time for canada to win another gold medal i guess...:)

and I may not be able to answer every question regarding politics, but I shall try.

I desided to create this thread because every now and then there are some interviws with various artists (or other people) who think we have polar bears here. and we don't, just so you know. ;)

    so, ask me. :D

and yes, Conan O'Brien looks a lot like our president, I admit it. :D

are you goin' to marry me?

i am deeply offended and hurt eMMI! :D ...i'm just kidding of course - no offense taken! there's only 30 some odd million of us, so we're not that much of a factor in the grand scheme of populations. we send out special agents like the one you met to make people think we are kind and polite :D we are a major factor in the hockey world though!

i'm quite excited because a friend of mine is coming to visit tomorrow. i lived with him in stockholm with a finnish guy from turku. he's bringing his swedish girlfriend so i'm anxious to meet her. he still keeps in contact with our friend from turku, and i wish he could have made the journey over here too. we had some good times. i'll have to make the trip over there to see him sometime i guess.

anyway, i'll keep you updated on finland's progress at the junior tournament...they almost beat the US yesterday...they started the game ahead 2-0, but were edged in the end 6-5. canada squeaked by the swiss 4-3...a closer one than we thought!

well, your 30 million is more than our some over 5. :D

    sounds nice. :)
and I guess you should make the trip too.

thanks. :) that tends to happen to Finns. I mean starting off good but then getting.. well. losing. :D
but yeah, thanks for the updates!
