Come on now Cosmo...you know the crazies are going to shut them down soon enough once they make it illegal to eat anything served over a McDonald's counter.

Is it a problem BIG enough to spread billions of dollars on this fence and the border protection? I don't think so, you must take away the reason why these peoples are crossing the borders illegaly, something like make more of them crossing legally, and as Mammasan said, give them less reason to cross the border by making their employment illegal, that would be much better than a fence and a massive military presences, and a lot cheaper too. With the money save you could buy yourself a nice universal healthcare, or a missile shield in the space, as you wish.
we can afford it. a missle shield in space? what kind of cheap shot is that? I dont even know what the hell you are talking about nice try

    Been to a McDonalds lately?
I used to love McDonalds... ate them Big Macs for lunch... and the 99cent Big Mac Wednesdays... well, gimme two.
But, one day... i realized... there are no grills in McDonalds anymore. No grease fire flame ups... no grease spattering burger dude... no burger flipping utinsil thingy. The burger comes out of a fricken' burger drawer!!! Like some kind of Soylent burger thing. I kinda freaked because... I don't like my burgers coming our of burger bins... I want them to come out of fire. And... it tasted the same. Creeped me out.
Now, I go to In & Out because I see the familiar fire in the kitchen and the grease spattered aprons and the burger flipping thingy. McSoylent Burgers are no longer served here in Cosmoburgh.

they need to get off their ass and use that energy to change what's wrong in their own country. mexico is rich in gold; oil; and tourism. stop padding el presidente's pockets and stand up for yourself. otherwise the reasons for leaving will never change.

what does everyone think the impact would be if something was carried out?

    Military,fence whatever?

The U.S. economy has become too dependent of the cheap labor provided by these individuals. How would it affect the economy once you started seeing less immigrants in the fileds, restaurants, construction sites? Employers would of course HAVE to pay decent wages once they hired citizens or legal immigrants. Which would of course translate to you the consumer paying a higher cost for damn near everything. Groceries, houses, getting your lawn cut etc etc.

Even if you gave the illegal immigrants the oprtunity to get their papaerwork in order now it would affect your economy. The first thing they would demand is decent wages and humane treatment.

I honestly don't see how getting rid of them or putting a stop to them going into te eUS would benefit it. I believe it would actually hurt the nation.

But... WE are not in control of Mexico. We have no control of what they do.
    BUT..
We ARE in control of what happens on this side of the border. Eliminate the jobs... you eliminate the desire to come here. WE can control the Americans who are hiring these workers... try going after those CRIMINALS and TAX EVADERS. That's something America can do for America... and quit blaming Mexico for being screwed up. Throw the employers in jail... take away their licenses... confiscate their assets... auction off their homes.... if this is such a HUGE problem. Treat the disease... not the symptoms.

EXACTLY. The same people that are bitching about 'Illegal Immigrants' would be crying about the increased costs they would face if they were to suddenly vanish. We want the cheap labor... we don't want the cheap laborers. We can't have it both ways.
Either we look for a humanitarian solution that satifies the needs for both sides... or we don't. A wall is a solution for people without an idea of a solution... it won't solve shit. Fix the problem by first treating the immigrants as humans... and go from there.

who the hell wants cheap labour? it drives wages down while the cost of living rises. if fewer people were willing to work for slave wages we'd have decent wages being paid.

    Wait... you're serious, right?
    ...
You know... we already HAVE a minimum wage in this country. Employers are SUPPOSED to pay these wages. And guess who wants cheap labor? The employers who hire these workers in order to keep more money for themselves. If they have to pay out more... YOU will have to pay more for your services because they aren't going to take the hit.

Oh.... wait... you live on a compound in the middle of Nowhere, N.D... right? Well, not everyone is a self-sufficient hermit... some of us live in places called "Cities" where there are lots of people. We don't grow our own onions in the city and we really don't want to pay 5 bucks a pound for them at the local Albertsons.

There is a pretty large illegal population where in the area I live. There are about 4-6 Home depots with a 20 mile radius from me and if you ever drive by any of them early in the morning you can easily see 30-40 illegals being picked up by contractors to do work. Authorities know this but they don't do anything to the contractors. My father is in the construction business and he tells me that at every works sight there is always about 6-10 illegals working. One guy he knows has been deported once already, but he came back because of the work. If there was no work they would come back or at least they would try to come back legally.

and do what? If there is no work... at all... no illegal work at all... what would they do? They can stay in Mexico and get paid zero... but, at least, they'd be with their families.
The people who hate the illegal immigrants should hold the Employers responsible for their part in all of this.
Personally... I don't see it as the major problem facing America...
    Number one: Iraq
Illegal immigration is below Health Care costs, Social Security/Medicare problems and environmental issues in my priority list. They are just fucking humans trying to make a better living.

But, they would not be able to pay rent even in the worst part of town if none of them had any income. I'll give you that there are a lot of illegal immigrant mothers in the states who collect welfare. But, there's no way they can actually live on welfare alone. It's being supplemented by the hubby who hangs out at Home Depot until he gets picked up by Joe Schmo who doesn't want to pay for a contractor.

If they still stayed in the states, they'd have to do like in mexico and build tin shacks. But, we have ordinances against tin shacks. In the US, tin shacks have to be built by a crooked contractor.

So, back down across the border they would go. Then US businesses would be forced to hire americans and pay higher wages and benefits. Cost of living would go up, but everything would eventually balance itself out through decreases in wage gaps.
