As a non-fan, I don't give a shit whether he keeps it. I know as well as anyone that most politicians act on behalf of big donors for their terms. But nobody can realistically tell me that he is going to act on behalf of some assclown that gave him $500. He will act on that guy's behalf about as much as Barrack Obama would act on my behalf if I gave him $500. Obama: "Hey (Uncle Leo), thanks for the donation. It helped me get elected. Have any initiatives you'd like to see put through." Paul: "Hey mister Black. Thanks for the donation. Anything you need done?" Black: "How 'bout gettin the Jews to wear stars of david like in Nazi Germany." Paul: "Done." I don't think so.

So the question is, is the acceptance of the money tacit approval of white supremacy. I think not. I'd actually criticize him if he did not provide his rationalle, but he did. He needs the money. He'll take it. He won't help his "white power" goals. If he happens to have other things in common, so be it.

And even if Paul wins, this is MUCH less meaningful than some of the campaign and party funding that goes on with people of much more influence than this bigot.

He has a good point, the money would probably have gone to this guy's website otherwise so now he has a little less money to promote his hatred. And I agree with what Uncle Leo said as well.

I don't know if I'd take it, though. Nobody wants to get their money from racists and assholes and whatever (well, exclude the greedy people and of course other racists and asshole). So his solution isn't so bad. Would you really return it?

If a neo-nazi came up to me and said here's $50 now you can go by some white supremacist books. I'd accept and probably give it to a homeless person or something.
    THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

I don't think I'd take it either, but that's about my own shit and comfort level. Call me PC, or whatever, but I'd want to say "thanks but no thanks." But if Paul is comfortable, then so be it.

    Hilarious!

At first I was like "huh, what's she trying to imply" and then it hit me. Somedays I'm a little slow.
  • This is a fun thread. *fap fap fap*

So, in conclusion, go Ron Paul. He doesn't stand a chance, but if I can still spew his name and politics everywhere, I'll be satisfied.

Last i checked those polls everyone likes to quote, he was consistently coming in THIRD in both Iowa AND NH, statisticaly speaking.

Statisticaly speaking = Coming in 4th + Margin Of Error, Taking Third Place Winner MINUS Margin Of Error.

Margin Of Error = Margin of Distortion

Polls = Most of the current polls coming out with results BEFORE massive TV Ad campaign started

    That is just plain funny.
  • I think he should give the money back, to show he isn't in the same league as this shady don black character. If I was a US voter and I saw a politician take money from people like that it would put me off completely. I think it could really damage his reputation by keeping it, but he sounds pretty right-wing anyway.

The real problem is that this measly donation by this racist guy has given him and his dodgy website tons of free publicity, regardless of what the politician does. If people didn't know of it before, they do now. Anyway, it doesn't matter because it's full of thickos anyway but still.

It all comes down to public perception... if you accept money from White Supremacists or L.a. Street Gangs, or the Charles Manson Fan Club... you are going to take heat for it. Your best option is to thankfully decline the or donate the full amount to an organization... in this case... to the NAACP or American Negro College Fund.

Good idea! If he cares what message he is giving out by taking this money, he should turn around and give it to an anti-racist group, something to help poor black youth, or even the Katrina relief fund. That would piss off don black big time.

In the end it comes down to this politican's personal integrity, but like most politicians, he probably hasn't got any.

No doubt, it is a win-win for him. Distance himself from a hate group while being charitable. Unless he really doesn't want to lose his white supremacist voters, in which case he may lose others.

    You got it...
I'm just guessing here... but if you have White Supremacists endorsing you and printing up bumper stickers with your name next to swastikas, it's going to be detrimental to your campaign. His losing the White Supremacists would probably be a good thing for him.

A few of his supporters are detrimental to his campaign. It's not just the White Supremacists.

For observations sake, it sure seems that with not only no help from the media, but with often obvious intended malice, the man is doing pretty damn good.

This story is exposed. Hm...gee....gotta wonder how the media found out and so quickly spread a story about a measly $500.

    What a joke.
