Well, he didn't offer up any alternative route on this pressing issue that he claims to be so concerned with.
Did anybody? I honestly don't know.
And it's not like he is going to come out and say those were his motives if indeed they were and I am right. I just find it a bit hard to swallow is all. You know, like how Bush wouldn't say the war was for oil yet we're not seeing any other benefits coming out of this mess. I'm not saying this analogy is even close to the same level or even close but I AM saying the money trails are more telling of the truth than these politicians mouths.
I'm skeptical of all politicians (hell, I'm skeptical of all people) so you're not really going to get a big argument from me there - despite the strawman argument that all Obama supporters think of him as some sort of holy messiah.
And those people who happen to not make such smart moves like you do will continue to be raped over it. Oh well, suckers...hit a bind or make mistakes and screw you, no one cares.
I think that's why he voted against the bill - too much "screw you, no one cares." If he was owned by these contributors, you'd think he'd vote for it.

No, just pointing out that you were singling her out in the wrong. Is that a problem?

  • I haven't liked him from the start for his hawkish ways. But he has said he is against the patriot act yet voted for it, against building the wall at the border yet voted for it, is against predatory lenders yet they make up a larger portion of his contributor's industries, against the war yet votes to fund it, against going to war with Iran but won't take it off the table yet he calls them a grave threat to us and is willing to preemptively strike them.

Not true. This is what made me bring up Iran.

All before the post you quoted. It's nothing against you, I'm just saying it's not fair to pin this on Abook.

Well, how recent is recent? And for per capita human rights abuses, there's no comparison. Last I heard, we don't have public executions at all, let alone for simply being a homosexual. They're theocrats. They are not nice people.

I heard on the news yesterday that Bush was laying the groundwork for a diplomatic mission, if that's what you're referring to. I'm certainly not going to blame Obama for being ahead of the curve.

Most of the world thinks Iran should halt their nuclear program, so, well there you go. I thought you were opposed to nuclear power, anyway.

Well, imitation is the highest form of flattery! :D

But yes, I agree it's no coincidence that it happened after the consistent approach towards direct diplomacy of the Democratic candidate. It means he was dictating the political agenda on this topic and a move had to be taken to steal the limelight.

Of course it's not. They are running against each other if ya hadn't noticed. I support Nader and think Obama is full of shit....thus my posts.

Do I really need to state the obvious here?

  • Ahhh didn't see those on the first page. No worries here mate.

But I didn't really mean to open up the debate on Iran. It was more responding to what issues Obama has flip flopped on.

I actually got that but I felt that it should be spelled out. It irks me the general lazy media portrayal (sp?) of Iran as the big bad wolf. When it is actually much more complex than that. Its internal politics is quite fascinating, even for a teocracy. It actually surprised me!

Oh, I'm a complete cynic, just ask Abook. :p I think my general view of America is pretty similar to most: great country, shame about the government.

You really need to get over that....you seem to be dwelling just a tad.

And for the record, I called you that only once after a series of pm's you sent me on a Saturday morning in which you were trying to bait me into an endless argument with you......as I have already clarified each and every time you bring this episode up and try to exaggerate to make it seem as if you have some kind of point. It gets really old and if you want to play the victim so badly then have at it, man. I'm a complete asshole for calling you that...no matter what the circumstances were or the fact that you wouldn't let it drop after I told you I wasn't in the mood to argue with you. You win. Poor baby.

i was simply asking? that is the original topic of the thread so i was wondering if you wanted to share anything nader may have to say about it?

i didnt say you said anything? whats up with the nader paranoia?

what do you think about self responsiblity? what do you think about self responsiblity in the black community?

dont flatter yourself, i dont dwell on that

and for the record, you said it multiple times... do you know anyone that is menatlly handicapped or "retarded"? you are so worried about politicians ideals, perhaps you should work on your own

Oh I'm sorry, I thought you might have actually had some kind of context to base your question on seeing as how you complain about people bringing up Nader all the time in other threads that aren't about him...silly me.

So now you want to bring him up...I see. This must be an exception thread in which you will tolerate it. Awesome!

I think people should all be responsible not just the black community....so does Nader from what I've gathered. Yay responsibility, I say.

Actually, the 30% cap was an amendment to the 2005 bankruptcy bill. The overall bill, S.256, was voted against by only 24 Senators - all Democrats - of which Obama was one. It was a terrible bill, if you ask me, and Obama did the right thing by voting against it. The overall bill means more money for "them" and a 30% cap amendment wouldn't have done much to change that.

Funny you should bring up Hillary, though. She voted in favor of the amendment but was the only Senator to not vote at all on the bill itself.

no, i was just figuring while you had nader on the brain in this thread i would ask. the world is not out to get you.

and you do know that arguing about nader on the MT all day long is not going to change anyones mind or bring him 1 extra vote, or help change anything? you are wasting your time when you could be actually helping his campaign and causes you support

Then why keep bringing it up?

    No, I didn't.

Do you mean literal 'retarded' or people who I think constitute as 'retarded' in a non-literal way but in the sense of more like a moron but come so close to mental retardation that it still seems fitting? There's a big difference but the pc police usually can't tell it.
