Im indifferent when it comes to these two... but I agree, Obama won this debate by a landslide. To me the most striking thing was that Mccain didnt look at Obama once!
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...

If you were already for Obama of course he won in a landslide. If you were already for McCain of course he won by a landslide.
As a true independent who is truly undecided, there was no winner in my opinion. I would have to lean an advantage to Obama on the economic discussion. But to McCain on the foreign policy issues.
I can't believe we couldn't find some more qualified candidates to run for president. Its looking like a disaster either way. Guess it would be easier to do what most here do and vote Democrat/Obama cause Vedder told me too. Im trying to be responsible but these guys are terrible.

I like to consider myself independent as well. (although I do not agree with Obama on a lot of issues) The only thing that scares me about everyone voting democrat is that if we do, because of the last 8 years the changes are going to be drastic. I think that if we vote for the lesser of two evils it would be the republican. Neither of these two men could be considered a great candidate, but let's all be honest. If McCain gets in he is only gonna last four years. And no, not because he will die first. I think it's going to be a very long time before we see another 8 year president.
IMO McCain is running for the good of the country.... no one can deny he loves this country , war hero , decorated veteran , life of public service. I dont think he is wanting personal gain from the office like the Bush's and Cheney did. I just don't think McCain has the smarts to get the job done.
I think Obama was rushed and pushed to the front of the Democratic party because of his charisma. My feeling is he knows inside he's not ready but what can he do? It kinda happened fast and before you know it , its too late to turn back. Obamas a rockstar now. I also don't think he has the smarts to get the job done. He uses the same sound bites and rhetoric in every speech. Yeah we know Bush sucked.

Very well spoken...I'm glad we still have some smart people out there. You should consider yourself one of them.

He isn't going to last 4 years? Have you seen the Palin interviews?
I liked McCain in 2000, and even had a favorable opinion of him during the primaries. Now, admittedly, I probably would have voted Obama or Clinton regardless, but McCain picking the beauty queen Palin has mad me terrified of him winning.
I honestly feel the debate was close, with neither a clear winner. I do think though that Obama demonstrated a clear grasp of foreign policy and showed that he understands the ramifications of both wars, and our relationship with Russia.
McCain needed to get momentum with this debate, and I simply think he failed to do so. You can look at my sig to see I am a biased opinion though, so take it for what it's worth. I'm sure there will be people saying the opposite.

Give me an example of where he has demonstrated tha the doesn't have the "smarts" to get the job done. The guy went to Harvard for Christs sake. I don't think we need to worry about whether he is smart enough for the job!

Where did Bush go to school? Does that really make a difference? When I say smarts I mean everything , not just an education. Experience, leadership , how hes used his education in the past. I can see why so many have fallen in love with Obama. Especially young people and of course minorities. But I can see through him , hes not ready to lead this country, nor is McCain.

Well we are going to get one or the other so I'm not sure what you want there...
Neither are perfect candidates, that's for sure. However, I think you can just look at the two's response to the economic crisis. McCain freaks out and "suspends" his campaign, while Obama has calmly addressed the issues at hands.
He has offered criteria he wants included in the bailout. McCain has offered nothing.
I think that Obama has demonstrated time and time again that he posseses the wisdom that we want in the White House. McCain has demonstrated that he is guided by the same rash decision making skills that Bush has implemented over the last 8 years.
Whether either of these guys can get us through this fucking catastrophic economic situation remains to be seen. Let's just say I'm not too optimistic that things will turn around anytime soon.
i live in canada and we just had a "debate party" there were about 17 of us and everyone was in agreeance that Mcain got smoked, anybody else that thinks different is a fucking idiot.
