Why does this happen?

It's ok, I wasn't friends with the girl or anything but just knew her as much as everyone knows everyone where I'm from and it was a shock to hear that at the time. At least in other cases you can pretend the kids died in their sleep or didn't know what was going on sometimes. This girl had called the police a few weeks earlier cos of a row. She knew exactly what was going on :( It just doesn't even bear thinking about.

Yes, it would be a horrible shock. These things are even when you don't know the victims. Some things that people do to each other, well they just hit a nerve, particularly when there is children involved I think.
I find that the hardest thing to deal with really when these kinds of things come up, that at some point, the children would know things that children simply should not know.

Of course they shouldn't :( to live and die in such a way is unbearable. I just feel so bad for her family. I knew her sister very well and can't imagine what she's going through! There have been a few of these kinds of things in Ireland over the past few years and it does seem to be relatively new.

It seems to be an increasing phenomenon here in Australia too. I really don't know why. It makes no sense to me at all, particularly in developed countries. The reports that have been coming out, particularly about the poor children killed by their grandfather, well it makes me physical ill really, that anyone could do that to another human being, let alone a supposed loved one. I cannot even imagine, given how truly sickened I am by it, what it must be like to have it happen to someone you actually know.

An update on the original story. The children's mother, Karen Bell was on 60 minutes tonight.

Total control freak--had a bronze plaque on the front door that said, "please take off your shoes" and wouldn't out of his sight for fear that they might touch something. Sheesh.

They were both successful, and ran a recruiting business. My nephew was a sweet kid--smart and respectful. Anyhoo, that is the million $ question--WHY? In his case, he had serious issues--I have (ashamed to say) wondered why he didn't just off himself? There seemed to be a rash of these types of murder-suicides (in Garland, Texas and the surrounding areas) during that summer. Just sad.

Sorry...this has gotten to be rambling. I have never written this down before, so I am not really sure what to say. I just wanted to say something. You never get over something like that.
