I don't think I care that much now. I care about some issues and I'm pretty much anti-government, but I don't really see any way for any significant changes to occur in the political system in the foreseeable future, so why get too bent out of shape about it.

It might depend on how I end up on my death bed.

Way to make my attempt a non-political 'can't we all just get along' thread into a referendum on healthcare. Impressive.

thankfully we have free health care in this country...

in reply to thread.. no, of course not.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    This is true...

But short of dying during any sort of disaster that is caused in part by our government, I can't imagine that I would be thinking about politics at all.

Its in fashion to diss 'politics', by implying they're so unimportant that you won't care about them on your death bed, but the reason politics exists, are human needs, and how best to meet them. If I did something that help someone else's needs be met better, including voting or contributing to who I thought was the right guy to do that, yeah I'd be glad of that on my deathbed.

    Sorry.
Politics is where my mind is at these days :)

    And to answer your question...

    No
I'll probably be thinking about dying.

But his answer was very realistic and certainly reflects a large truth.

So why don't you start saving money now for that day so you won't stick them with it?

His answer didn't answer my question. He was talking about other people besides himself. The question was about what YOU would do.

Hopefully on your deathbed, you will have your shit together money wise so your family and the government don’t have to foot the bill.

But I guess personal responsibility left a long time ago here in America.

    Ohh
I didn't realize that saving money was the problem?
Okay...I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

    Thanks

Yeah, it is the problem. Why is it so hard?

  • on my death bed I'll be busy lining out the finances and securing my family's future, so I won't be too concerned with the politics of that time... But I'm sure I'll still be complaining about whatever position current politics has burdened us with.

No, you didn't ask anyone what they would do.

You asked people if they would care at all about politics, on their deathbed.

You asked people what would be on their minds ...what they would be thinking and feeling; not what they would do or would be doing.

At best the disaster is in the poor manner you posed the question

within the context of the way you posed the question, Gonzo1977's answer was absolutely perfect and exactly within context.

Now, if you "meant " something else with it, you may want to re-word your question.

I'll be thinking about religion/God/the afterlife. I'll be thinking about my family. I'll be thinking about my friends. I'll reflect on my life, and how good it has been.

I don't think politics or work will enter my head at all. But, that's just me.

Congrats to those of you who are convinced you will be thinking about politics on your death bed. Not my cup of tea to go out thinking about politics, but good for you.

So American's are at fault for the health care issues in this country? They're just not saving enough money?

    Hmmm.Okay.
    I didn't realize that.

I'll be sure to tell that to my mother who can't afford the "Treatment" that the insurance companies won't cover for her Cancer.

"Sorry Mom...You just didn't save enough money"

He was thinking about his FAMILY, politics effects his family. Life is not a movie.

No - health insurance is primarily to blame for health care cost issues in this country.

People are to blame for leaving their relatives with big bills.

That was asking "you" (the reader of the question) what you would do. What's the need to debate here? You are making yourself look ridiculous.

how well has this been working out lately? We've lost $25000 off our 401k in 3 weeks. Will we recover this before our death bed days? You know what they say about the best laid plans.

Because some people end up in their death bed, and hence "can't just get along" because of their inability to pay for care. So yeah, they do think about politics and about the misguided decisions that put them in that place. And maybe you are too young and healthy to realize that.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

You honestly think, when you are on your deathbed, you'll be thinking about politics? You'll be thinking about which CANDIDATE will win the upcoming election? You'll be thinking about what the Senate is voting on in the upcoming week? Come on. I don't think you are being sincere.

As is normally the case, people here just want to argue.

No Poor Health Insurance is In Concert with a Poor Health Care System.

You are putting a price tag on peoples life!!!

You mean to tell me that you can't see that there is something horrifically wrong with a system that fosters that mentality?

How can you blame somone because they can't afford their treatment? Because they develop Cancer?

It's a shitty deal to leave your family with debt because you got sick.

It has nothing to do with irresponsiblity. Nothing.

I hope to god I don't have to think about that when I'm dying.

    But how could you not.

Politics is not an acute word. Specify next time..."Think you'll be thinking about the election on your deathbed" Cant read your mind.

I'm saying that the health insurance industry is to blame for most of our healthcare cost problems in this country. I probably didn't make that very clear.

But....everyone's going to die. Why not try to deal with that reality in advance?
