I know that people volunteered for other reasons before Iraq started and those people, who tried to use a resource provided to them to better themselves, were abused by the American people. Who would actually choose to fight this battle today? The people who volunteer now are people who simply want combat experience. What normal, rational-thinking person could possibly think that this is a cause that is worth risking your life for? It is ridiculous that anybody defends this war (and I know that you are not, know1). The men who perpetrated this war are no better then the men who started WW2 and they should share the same fate.

This is a question better fit for someone who is currently serving.

My son-in-law joined the army during the Clinton administration because he needed the money for college. He re-enlisted after 9/11 because he wanted to go to Afghanistan. He was proud to serve there and wanted to go back, but they sent him to Iraq instead. He was on the fence about the war when he left, but there's no doubt about where he stands after serving there ... he's 100% opposed to it, and to this administration. His opinion is that we had no business going there in the first place, and are only making matters worse now because the war has been totally mismanaged. What kept him sane while he was there was focusing on the only clearly discernable mission that he could see, which was to keep the men under his command from getting killed.

I have no disagreements with anything you just said.

But, please remember, that's not every soldiers story.

That's all I'm saying... That doesn't mean I'm disrespecting your son-in-law one bit. Or any other military personnel for that matter. I'd be honored to meet the man tomorrow and thank him.

    Sadly, you're most likely right.

Last time I got banned, the reason given was "rude comments are not permitted". For comments I made that werent even directed at a fellow board member. And I was banned less than ONE HOUR after I made the comment. Yet I can't even get an email answer when I report the BILLION rude posts made by liberals here every day. What a joke this place has become. Open debate and discussion my ass. I can't help but wonder why so many other RUDE comments are allowed, and/or encouraged by the mods here........

Gee........could it be their political affiliation?

    Nahhhhhh!

Anyway, to stick to the thread topic, so as to not tempt the nazi-mods, kerry's a shithead.

And if I get banned for a nazi comment, Ill freegin flip. How many times have libs here called someone else here a nazi and gotten away with it?

    Ditto ;)
  • Johny "Fairy" Kerry has gone sp far over the line this time. May be he shud go over to the middle east or Euroupe where people like him belong.
    I’d thank my lucky stars,
    to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

I know how it works, or better term would be doesn't work. I'm just thinking logically which I know isn't allowed in the realm of politics. Kerry's comment wether you agree or disagree has nothing to do with other democrats.

you are correct cause if someone says "jeese (pun intended) you know....Kerry thinks our troops are dumb, so I'm going to vote for a republican" well that person isn't very aware of whats going on in the world and probably would have voted republican anyway. I see few if any people that will change their vote because of this. Course it fiiiiinaaaaallly gives the repugs something..after being slapped in the face repeatidly by their party.

I swore to myself I wouldn't post in the Kerry threads again, but I'm a gluten for punishment. I'm not even going to touch wether Kerry should apologize or wether he was right or wrong. We all have our different opinion on that. I was watching the news last night and saw President Bush demanding that Kerry apologize to the troops in Iraq. Now I can't stand either of these two men and would dance in the street the day they are both out of politics, but if anyone in this country should be apologizing to the troops in this country it is the leaders of this administration. Forget about wether we should or shouldn't have invaded Iraq. I'm just focusing on the management of this war. We sent our men and women over there ill equiped. Some had no body armor, some had to scavenge through dumps to find metal plating to use as make shift armor on thier humvees. The response these men and women get by the head of the military is "You go to war with what you have." Men like Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld should be first in line to apologize to our troops and their families and really shouldn't be pointing fingers at anyone when the issue of disrespecting troops surfaces. While John Kerry's words where stupid and yes people may have been offended by them, an apology should be in order. His where just words while this administration has disrespected our troops with actions. Actions that but them in harms way. Actions that sent them to a war zone short of the life saving equipment that they depend on.

you know....the dems and Kerry really could turn this into a positive if they had some Jeuvos (did I spell that correctly). Have a huge press conference, tell the troops he was sorry...and then deliver the line how he originally wanted...explain it...then add what you had in your post...would be genius...If only....

when you're in the public eye; your comments represent the party or group you represent; unless of course everyone realizes the speaker is a complete idiot.
he insulted every voter with a friend or relative in the military. and they're saying: SO THIS IS HOW THE DEMS CONSIDER MY SON.

Exactly. The GOP was going to lose the House. Now they will not only keep the house but the GOP WILL GAIN SEATS. Mark it down.

    hillary/obama=8 more years republican president....

    isnt life wonderful!!!!!!

8 years? Minimum 80 years. As far as that office goes, it's a one party system.
