Here's the thing. If there is a party where white partygoers dress as their favorite Black stereotype, Black partygoers dress as their favorite white sterotype , etc... at the SAME party, i might let you off the hook with the "its a harmless theme party" line of bullshit. That isn't what is happening here. This is clearly a bunch of assholes thumbing their nose at MLK in a manifestation of racist attitude. C'mon man, Halloween?! Are you fucking kidding me? Look, i'm not saying these dumbasses should be arrested and hate crime legislation invoked, but, the University does need to send a very clear message that this type of shit will not be tolerated.
Furthermore, i'm not a "P.C. Pussy". It doesn't take one of those to realize that this kind of behavior is unacceptable. Is there "shit ten times as bad" as this? Yeah. Probably even twenty times. Does that mean we ignore it? Fuck no! Try that with the next cop that pulls you over for going 60 in a 45. Guess what, you're still getting a fucking ticket.

You know what i find ridiculous? A bunch of white folks on a message board griping about what Blacks should not be offended by.

the media blows the wrong kinds of shit out of proportion, and i think this is a prime example. i might be an exception, given that most of the people i partied with my freshman and sophomore year were just fucking around and not manifesting racism, but it just seems like a "who cares" kind of thing. and i know this is annoying to here, but the if the same shit happened where a bunch of black people dressed up as rednecks and stereotyped white people, it wouldn't get the same press. why? i think partially because most white people don't care. i don't know, maybe im ignorant to what it's like being a minority, but i know my black friends would agree that this shit is just stupid. i understand your point, and it is juvenile and disrespectful to someone who might actually care, so it shouldn't be done. i think the stupidest part was putting the pictures on facebook. whatever happens, if these students get portrayed as racist, i think that would be the most ridiculous thing ever b/c dave chapelle would be the biggest one of all and the FCC let him do the shit over and over all over TV.

Yes these kids should have their lives negatively impacted and be punished!

BTW Dave Chapelle is a fucking comedian who does what he does in order to expose racism and poke fun at it. He goofs on EVERYONE, and does it very openly for everyone to see! Its paraody. HE'S A COMEDIAN!!
Do you really think THAT is what was going on at this party? i'm willing to guess no. This is nothing more than a bunch of punk ass, racist, dickhead kids who think they're clever and choose to hide their racism behind close doors and amongst their peers because they're huge fucking pussies to scared to do it openly. The safe confines of a fucking frathouse serve to protect their anonymity just like the costume of a klansmen. Oops it seems there was a mole. How many Black kids were invited to this party, i wonder.

do you think the average american sees the parody? honestly? how about mind of mencia?

don't say that people aren't influenced by t.v. b/c i have noticed a lot more people being subjected to stereotypical jokes and laughing it off, but really not liking it.

i still say it isn't that big of a deal, just some kids being tasteless. if there was any type of video with racial slurs or hate stuff, then of course, but come on dude,... get over it.

No one ever said they shouldnt be offended. Certainly not a "bunch" of folks.
What im saying is that offending someone isnt the worst thing in the world. Comedy can be tastless to some. Racial/Sexist/Blonde/Fat/etc jokes can be. Where should the line be drawn?

Sometimes i get offended when i hear something, that doesnt mean i think the other person is wrong or needs sensativity training.

Those pictures look like several "Pimp and Ho" themed parties that I've attended.

If they would've labeled the party as such, it wouldn't have been newsworthy at all IMO.
