I almost met Lindsay about 5 months ago, she was working out at a gym right by my apartment. I am not suprised however about her checking into AA. Atleast she is facing her problems rather than drinking her life away like so many stars do. (Terra Ried) And just for the record, when I was 20 I drank like a fuckin fish myself!

Rubbish. Like she's got an alcohol/drug problem. She's 20 years old, she's meant to be going out having a good time. Over reacting americans, gotta love 'em haha. Nothing like a bit of publicity to boost one's struggling career.

i had an alcohol and drug problem at 20. it knows no bounds. rich, poor, young, old... nobody is immune from addiction. kurt cobain was addicted to heroin in his teens. you dont say "well he was just having a good time." lohan is not having a good time. if she was, she wouldn't be in rehab. clearly she's embarassed by what she's been doing becos of her drinking.

1. lohan did not make a big deal of it. she's been going in secret and the tabloids followed her and broke the story. im sure she wishes that had not happened. if you're opposed to the publicity, berate the tabloids, not lohan. as far as i know, she hasnt said a word about it. so how is that seeking attention? i like how nobody i have pointed that out to has had an answer aside form saying "she's a whore and she's in rehab!"

2. maybe if keith moon and jim morrison had gone to rehab, they'd still be alive and making great music? furthermore, keith moon WAS trying to quit drinking when he died. he was unsuccessful. if lohan died tomorrow of alcohol poisoning you'd be talking aboubout how ridiculous her life was and how stupid she was to not stop and asking why she wasnt in rehab.

bottom line, you guys are all pricks and you're just looking for excuses to point at somebody else and blame all of society's problems on them. it's lohan's fault!

I'm just left wondering why people are holding her career against her in this... It's like "Oh, she's famous, just looking to get some publicity"... If a 20 year old who wasn't famous checked into rehab, would you react the same way? Then you say that you find her "decadent lifestyle" offensive, before bashing her for trying to quit it...

I'm not a fan of Lohan to any great degree, but come on, she's a kid trying to sort herself out. Let her have her privacy. If it turns out she really is just looking for attention, then you'll feel better for leaving her the fuck alone anyway.

I wonder why people in this thread are so bent on objectifying this girl. She's a human being. Usually people objectify another when they objectify their own selves and can't see past it.

She has feelings, hurts, problems. She has a dysfunctional family that openly acts out. She's got a serious problem and is looking for help. She's owning her own problem. One has to be quite numb in order to overlook these issues in order to look down from "above" at her.

haha! my adolescence was far from perfect too, but i'm not in any sort of rehab. having a bad childhood/teen years or whatever it may be can't always be the excuse. sure, it's good that she's going to AA to get help, i'm not knocking that. it's just sad though, that at 20 she shouldn't have to go to AA. she shouldn't even be drinking to begin with. realistically i know that's not the case, i drank long before i was 21 too. i don't see anything wrong with getting help, i think it's great, it helped my dad immensely, but to not even be 21 and have a drinking problem is what bothers me. and hopefully this was all done for her own good and not for publicity.

yes, she's lucky. i wouldnt give my upbringing for hers for any money in the world. she gets drunk and creates a scene at a bar. im guessing you NEVER did that before age 20 did you? im sure you never drank at all and never had too much and got a little obnoxious? well guess what, she's normal and did what all the rest of us did. the difference was she had tv cameras to broadcast her every mistake to the world for criticism. im sure you never did a single stupid thing between the ages of 14 and 20, but most of the rest of us normal people did, we just didnt have the misfortune of having it shown to the entire world and plastered on every newspaper cover in the world.

she made some mistakes, as teens are wont to do. but that does not justify the cruelty some arrogant and pretentious pricks around here like to throw at her. i said this before she went into rehab when people were ripping her for hosting snl while pj was on. she's not the anti-christ. she's trying to grow up while the entire world scrutinizes her every move. that isn't easy. we should be glad she's trying to reign in her poor behavior. i think all of us would prefer that to having another courtney love.

did you read the thread? it was not done for publicity. there were no news releases. she just went. the tabloids followed her and put it on the front page once they figured out what she was doing. jesus christ, leave that poor girl alone.

did you all want mike to stop being a publicity hound when he went to rehab and joined AA? did you all think he was a douchebag just looking for attention?

it is sad she has a problem so young. but it's not surprising and it doesn't mean she should be publicly ridiculed for attempting to do something about it.

Hmmm, Keith Moon died of an overdose of pills that were meant to reduce the effects of alcoholism because he was trying to get off the booze and quit beating up his wife.

Keith Richards DID go to herion rehab in the 70's and he's still badass.


Otherwise, I don't know enough about Lindsay Lohan to like or not like her, but she is one of hundreds, maybe thousands of people who became famous and rich and didn't know how to control their wealth or lives, and suddenly had the pressures of cameras watching their every move, people offering them drugs and booze, everyone wanting a piece of their money and not knowing how to deal with it in a confusing time of life.

So kudos to her to seek help and I hope the best for her.
Maybe a few others will see that and seek help, too.

soul I agree with what you are saying. However, it is my understanding that her mother was the one who "outed" her and I believe her mother did this to help repair her image in the media after the producer of the movie she was working on called her out for being constantly late to the production. Call me cynical but I really do believe she is doing this to repair her image.
